Samsung NX10

CNET
13 November 2010
  • Summary: While there are enough drawbacks to keep the Samsung NX10 from being a no-brainer choice among interchangeable-lens cameras, it's still a well-designed model that's fun to shoot with and capable of producing very nice photos.
  • Pros: Comfortable, intelligent design; nice LCD; capable of producing excellent images.
  • Cons: Default image settings could be better; sensor cleaning on resume from standby; middling EVF; no override for EVF eye sensor; annoying raw software.

DP Review

  • Summary: The NX10 proves it's possible to offer an APS-C sensor and interchangeable lenses without the mirror, prism, and general bulk of a DSLR design. It's a small, likeable camera that is readily capable of matching the image quality of its peers, but a few minor failings prevent it from standing out in a sector full of highly capable cameras.
  • Pros: Smallest interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sensor, Good image quality, Very reliable metering and white balance in most shooting situations, Excellent build quality, Generally well-thought-through interface and ergonomics, High specification for the price, Fast (DSLR speed) autofocus and good range of AF point selection methods, Superb LED rear screen offers high contrast, brightness and viewing angle, EVF useful in bright light and free from the 'tearing effe...
  • Cons: Auto ISO will all too readily result in shaky photos, Steep tone curve gives harsh transition to blown-out, white areas (as seen in Panasonic G series), Noise reduction in JPEGS can be destructive (especially in Smart Range mode), Several functions, including playback, unavailable for several seconds when shooting RAW, EVF seems dull in comparison to excellent rear screen, Lack of optional live view magnification makes manual focus of non-NX lenses impractical, Contin...

Samsung NX10

PC Magazine
3 October 2010
  • Conclusion: Samsung's first Micro-Four-Thirds competitor holds its own when it comes to speed and performance, but a proprietary lens system and limited compatible accessories detract from the overall package.
  • Pros: Compact build with interchangeable lenses. D-SLR-like image quality and focusing speed. Negligible shutter lag. OLED screen offers extraordinary contrast and very little motion blur. Intuitive and attractive user interface. 720p30 HD video capture.
  • Cons: Included lens produces soft images. Noise at ISO 1600 and higher. No optical viewfinder. Limited lens and accessory selection. No microphone input.

  • Conclusion: Samsung NX10 review With the NX10, Samsung has something new to offer, or actually several things. Not only is it the first camera that the brand has developed all by itself, it is also one of the first cameras on the market with changeable lenses, an APS-C sensor, and without a mirror. The Samsung NX10 is not only starting the attack on the Micro Four Thirds System, but also on the traditional SLR camera.

Digital Camera Review
17 May 2010
  • Summary: CONCLUSION Small, mirrorless digital cameras with interchangeable lenses are on the upswing; Panasonic and Olympus have been joined by Samsung with the NX10 and Sony's entry into the competition has just been formally announced. You have to wonder how long it might be before Canon and Nikon join the club.
  • Pros: Very good still image quality and color, Very good video quality, RAW and JPEG still image options, Built-in viewfinder, Monitor/viewfinder display exposure changes real time in live view
  • Cons: Shutter lag longest in the class, Quirky user's manual, 72 dpi image output

Samsung NX10 review

wired.co.uk
  • Conclusion: All in all, the Samsung NX10 is a very attractive little camera. Image quality is on a par with a typical midrange dSLR, and with the 30mm pancake lens attached the whole package is addictively compact. It doesn't quite feel 100 percent finished -- there's no apparent option to magnify the live view image when a manual lens is attached via an adapter (so you can kiss goodbye to accurate focussing with anything other than Samsung's own NX-mount optics), and the unreliable...

  • Summary: The Samsung NX10 is about take the digital camera market by storm. It's a compact camera with the functionality of a digital SLR, but an intelligent auto mode allows it to also be used as a point-and-shoot camera until you get used to all of its controls.
