Samsung NV7 OPS

The Samsung NV7 OPS boasts a 7.2 megapixel optical lens, a 2.5 inch LCD screen, 19Mb internal memory, and supports SD Memory Cards and MultiMedia Cards. The camera also features an Optical Picture Stabilization mode and also an Advanced Shake Reduction mode that helps to compensate for hand shake movement to deliver sharper images. The unique feature of this camera is its innovative Smart Touch menu control system. Rows of touch-sensitive buttons line the right and bottom sides of the camera’s 2.5-inch, 230,000-pixel LCD screen. As you pass your finger over them, various controls appear on the screen. You can select them by pressing the appropriate button, which may activate a whole new set of control possibilities for a submenu, if applicable.

CNET says the Smart Touch control system will either be the NV7’s biggest asset or its most annoying feature. The Photographyblog generally likes the feature, saying that initially the system was more revolutionary than effective, but once they used it for a while, it became a lot more intuitive, making the various menu options much more accessible and speeding up the operation of the camera. However, although they like the setup of the camera, Photographyblog also states that the NV7 is noisy and the pictures it produces do not match the high quality of the rest of the camera. Digital Camera Review also states that the camera hits and misses. It mentions problems with color fringing and out-of –focus pictures. They also thought that the camera was too slow, and that the shutter lag, slow auto focus and pop-up flash added too much time to the picture-taking process. Then the pictures took a long interval to record to memory. The consensus seems to be that although the NV7 has some revolutionary features, like the Smart Touch menu and some stabilization features, the functionality and quality of the pictures aren’t equal to other camera features in this price range.
