The Samsung HZ35W has a lot to offer whether you're a snapshooter or someone who likes to use manual controls. More than its full feature set, which includes a myriad of automatic, semi-auto and manual controls, the Samsung HZ35W's versatility is spotlighted by its 15x optical zoom. With an impressive focal range of 24-360mm, the HZ35W's image stabilized lens can handle just about any situation--from wide-angle landscapes to close-ups of otherwise out of reach distant... Take a compass on a trip and you’ll spend a lot of time wandering around trying to find out which way is north. Take a camera with a built-in GPS receiver and you’ll get tons of tasty geotagged photos that can be automatically dropped onto interactive digital maps in programs such as Apple’s iPhoto or Aperture. Let's start with the laundry list of positives. The 12-megapixel HZ35W's 15X lens (24mm to 360mm) offers the largest optical-zoom range of any compact camera currently available, and this model's dual stabilization feature proves amazingly effective in correcting everything but the most severe shaking. To play back images and frame shots, you use the camera's 3-inch-diagonal AMOLED screen, which is impressively sharp and easy on the eyes. Read more

The HZ35W is a good little camera. You do need to spend some time with the manual and get familiar with the menus and sub-menus, but the camera can produce some very fine photos. Be aware that not all of the sub-settings indicated in the manual are under the settings (P,ASM,Scn) they say they are. But if you change to one of the others settings you will find what you are looking for. This is the only reason I didn't give the camera 5 stars. Read more
