Ricoh Theta

Channel5
4 October 2014
  • Summary: We've got to say, the Ricoh Theta is an odd device. We like the ability to pan around full 360 degree images and zoom in and out of all the details, as well as the remote trigger functions, but we do wonder if it actually has any other practical use.

Expert Review

The Gadget Show
20 November 2014
  • Summary: The basics Meet the Ricoh Theta, a curious new camera with a unique all-round lens set-up, which for £329, can snap shots as if they were taken from inside a fishbowl. It's a small candybar-style device, barely any bigger than a smartphone, only there's an extremely wide angle lens on each side of...
  • Pros: The Ricoh Theta combines two extremely wide angle lenses to create a fully interactive 360-degree panorama that can be panned and zoomed around within the free companion iOS app. That makes for some surreal shots that, if done right, can look amazing. Imagine taking a group hug selfie with all yo...
  • Cons: While the images look great and are fully interactive within both the desktop and phone apps, there is no way to view them on the web outside of Theta's own portal, plus posting to Facebook only provides a hyperlink to the photo. Android users are also currently left in the dark, as support for G...

Ricoh Theta hands-on: we explore Ricoh's 360-degree, app-controllable camera

Pocket Lint
7 September 2013
  • Excerpt: The Ricoh Theta is a camera with a single purpose: it takes 360-degree panoramas and stitches them into spherical, navigable files within a few seconds. But there's no screen on this device, just two protruding wide-angle lenses that make it look like the camera equivalent of an Amazonian frog.
