Nearly as good as the film Ricoh GR-1

Adrian, B&H Photo
9 June 2014
  • Excerpt: Finally, two decades into the digital transformation of consumer photography, we have a point-and-shoot that produces images of technical quality comparable to those from a "pro" (D)SLR. The original Ricoh GR-1 could produce slides that vied with those from any of the then current SLRs equipped with their bulky 28mm lenses, and this digital camera is as good or better than any APS-C DSLR with a lens of this (equivalent) focal length.
  • Pros: Good in Low Light, Great Resolution, Small / Compact
  • Cons: No Viewfinder, Poor Image Stabilization, Tripod Hole Poorly Placed

Perfect Compact Camera, auto or manual

3eyedmonster, B&H Photo
24 May 2014
  • Excerpt: The cameras larger sensor, f/2.8 lens and computer make a fast little camera to capture my toddler. I was constantly deleting blurry images on my DSLR and my other Point & Shoot. Not with Ricoh GR. The camera's auto focus is so quick I am rarely left with a bad picture. The camera has so many manual features too. It can keep your dslr enthusiast happy with so many options. Built in filters and long exposure programing keep my deeply technical side happy too.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Battery Life, Good in Low Light, Great Resolution, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Limited Zoom

My new favorite!

White Horse, B&H Photo
7 May 2014
  • Excerpt: I LOVE street photography, and now I have a favorite camera for high-contrast b&w. The thrilling results just beg me to take more. I'm a high school teacher of photography and yearbook. After the first day of photos around campus and the FFA/agriculture department (farming/welding equipment), my photo students' jaws dropped at the results. Other students around campus were begging me to take their picture and show it them. How fun is that!
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Battery Life, Good in Low Light, Great Resolution, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Limited Zoom, No Viewfinder

Best Pocket Camera I know !

Fruchstuck, B&H Photo
20 April 2014
  • Excerpt: You have to spend some time to figure out all the parameters and set the camera in a functional way for you. Once you do it, this one becomes second nature and an extension of you. The 28mm 2.8 is one the best wide angles I have used, the sensor is among the best APS-C money can buy, very resourceful, greati image quality, a steal for the price.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Good Battery Life, Great Resolution, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Lag / Shutter Delay, No Viewfinder

Ricoh GR APS-C

Brian B, B&H Photo
28 March 2014
  • Excerpt: Ricoh GR I came to know about GR in one of friends' blog. I had know GR when it was a film camera but never tried it as only users in specific niche liked it; I thought by then GR was not for me, especially, I was deeply in love with DSLRs. Portability As time went and I started aging, carrying heavy camera equipments on weekends became more and more burdensome, not to mention that I did not even attempt to carry DSLRs during the week.
  • Pros: Dynamic Range, Great Resolution, Small / Compact
  • Cons: None
