Superb picture quality in the Ricoh CX4 point and shoot
24 July 2012
Summary: My digital cameras have been Sony (1999), Nikon (2003) , Sony (2006), Pentax (2008). The Pentax Optio 70 was the best, until now... Enter the CX4. Picture quality is absolutely amazing for a camera this size. The large image sensor is designed for a 12mp camerra, but locked off at 10mp, maximising the image and pixel quality you capture. Colours are vivid and stunning both on the large LCD screen and when viewed on TV or computer, and printed out.
Surprisingly good - and excellent customer service

Summary: I bought the Ricoh CX4 for one reason, it is one of the few P&S cameras that has a built in intervalometer for time-lapse photography. Also, the other P&S cameras that have this facility, don't have the flexibility of the CX4, which allows for intervals as short as 5s. 3s would be much better, but 5s is OK. With settings adjusted to maximise battery consumption, I got +1,400 images from one battery charge, which is waaaaaay beyond what Ricoh claim (330 images).
Summary: Great camera by Ricoh. I had one of the earlier models and upgraded recently. Bought from fotosense.co.uk they had a special offer on it for £159 - cheapest i could find online. Camera is worth every penny.
Summary: I have searched for years to get the right compact camera. As a dad of 4,all I really wanted was simple : Sharp photo's of my children where they did not blur, continous shooting which gives sharp photos, quick start up time so that I could just grab and shoot. I have tried 3 samsung cameras, the last being the duel screen one(sorry I have forgotten the model numbers), I've been talked into the Fuji exr f-70, canon 102 sx (this camera had great handling...
Summary: I purchased the camera based on a recommendation and haven't been disappointed. The feature that won it over, from the other cameras that initially appear to be better value, is the rapid shot feature. You can get more mega pixels and greater zoom for the price, but not with the same quick repetitive picture taking abilitiy. The thing that has previously frustrated me about digital cameras is the delay when taking action/motion shots e.g. the kids sports day.
Summary: Recommended. This is an excellent camera for creative photographers. Here are the things I like. 1) The art filters are more imaginative and generally better executed on the CX4 than on cameras from other manufacturers. The “toy camera,” “soft focus,” and “cross process” are all very useful. The “high dynamic black and white” and the “sepia” are much better here than on other cameras I have tried.
Pros: Great art filters, zoom range, quality images, pocketable
