Summary: Sloooow focus Slooooow shutter release. Sooooo sloooooow Make sure all subjects are standing still, kinda like Brady in the 1850s All photos come flat and low contrast. White balance is a joke - ALWAYS need major correction in post. Careful, folks. Just the worst camera I have ever tried to use.
Summary: I have had this camera for 2 years. I like the styling because it looks a more expensive DSLR. It takes very good pictures in any light. There are lots of features that make this camera fun to use even for beginners. Great for trips, parties, kids and pets. I would have liked a hot shoe but the flash puts out enough light for most shots. It is very lightweight and the tilting screen has spoiled me to the point I look for it on other cameras. The macro is incredible.
Summary: Great cammera for the price. A lot of functions and great features like the detachable display and the night visor. It also boots very fast and has an incredible zoom and a great stabilizer. I'm adding three photos. The first one its a view and there is a mark where in the second photo we use the optical zoom and in the third optical+digital zoom.
Summary: Saturday night I realized the Pentax was in the Post Office. Given that the Post Office is 100 feet up the Alley, I walked over and discovered it had arrived. It came with charged batteries, I had an extra 2Gig Sandisk so it way show time.Sunday I drove to the Wind Generators , putting the X-5 to the test. Later in the evening I returned photographing them at Sundown. This camera has an excellent night application.
Summary: I am a longtime Canon fan and was afraid that this camera (which I bought because I wanted a bridge camera with a viewfinder and it was one of the few) would disappoint me in terms of the quality of the images. Quite the contrary. Its zoom is amazing (though you have to be careful not to have something in the foreground that it's focusing on), and the macro function is a delight to use.
Summary: Big disappointment! I really liked this camera when I got it. It is super easy to set and use, the pictures are great. However, while shooting on a very mild summer day in the middle Eastern USA, the camera locked up after about shots and that was the end of it. The book had said that it might overheat in hot humid jungle type climates, but I was no where near there. The manual said to let it cool off and all would be okay, so I did.
Summary: This is a great bridge camera - whether used on auto or in full manual mode. The zoom is unbelievable. I can get a full body shot of a water skier on the opposite shore of Donner Lake. I recommend a tripod for exploring the full extent of the zoom, though. A very nice camera, especially for the price. If you'd rather carry a bag of lenses, I understand. But for the casual photographer who wants to learn what a Pentax has to offer, you can't go wrong with this camera.
