Definitely not waterproof! Mediocre picture quality.

Summary: I bought this camera about a year ago primarily as a point-and-shoot but expected some water and rough treatment outdoors. As for picture quality, I would say it is average - even a bit poor for this price range. Over the first year it handled rain, small drops and routine use just fine. I took it snorkeling in very shallow water (i.e. less than 6 feet deep) and it lasted about 15 minutes before dying. This thing is definitely not waterproof as advertised!
Summary: OK folks...no one has used this camera harder than a home inspector. I have been through many digital cameras in 14 years and this one has held up. I dragged this thing under homes in dirt, cobwebs, on roofs and in attics. I've dropped it, used it in rain, and stuffed it in a tool box. This damn thing is still working after 3 years. I usually buy a back up since I'm so use to the Canons, Fuji films and Olympus cameras failing a year after I beat them up.
Summary: I'm hard on pocket cameras. I keep dropping them and the battery door is always a weak spot. I guess taking them out of my pockets is the trouble. This is my 5th pocket digital camera. I have most of the parts from the old ones. The Pentax takes great pics. Lots of resolution. High mega pix.. But the battery door once again is the weak spot.
Summary: If you are looking for a rugged water proof digital camera with high quality pictures look no further. This Pentax is one of the best out there and is no longer on the market. Managed to get one around $300 and it seems that most retailers are sold out or low on stock. The new version of this camera was not made as well as this one so this one highly sought after. Hope this info helps some of yall out there :) Cheers!
Summary: Bought this as a gift for my daughter to travel with. This daughter is rough on stuff but the camera came back in one piece and her pictures were just beautiful. I would highly recommend this camera for anyone doing a lot of traveling --moving around etc. in places where cameras can get "hurt". The waterproof feature is also excellent!
Summary: THOU FAR IT IS MEETING MY EXPECTATION. HOWEVER, I HAVE NOT GOTTEN DOWN TO THE FINER THINGS IT CAN PROVIDE. READING MANUAL FREQEUNTLY TO UNDERSTAND THE OPTIONS. I WAS SHOWN CAMERA BY AN INSPECTOR WHO USED IT AND WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH ITS PERFORMANCE. I AM SURE CAMERA WILL PROVIDE SERVICE IT WAS PURCHASED.
Built to take a beating, and takes great photos a& videos! Worth the money!

Summary: This is my second Pentax Optio WG. I purchased my original WG-90 for a trip to Puerto Rico, and love it. When I saw the chance to pick up another, I jumped on it. Takes great pictures in the water, under the water & out of the water. Survived an 8 mile hike thru the rain forest, repelling down a waterfall, and zip-lining. Takes great video too!
Summary: I bought this to take on vacation, and expected to get some good shots while snorkeling in the ocean. I had it in the water for 15 seconds before it went dead. I beg you to avoid this camera at all costs, spend a few more dollars and get a better camera from a better manufacturer.
Summary: This camera was a replacement to my Kodak which rusted itself out. The Pentax is solid and has a better grip. One thing I would recommend is to wash the camera with regular water once you are done with the underwater shots. This will clear out the salinity that usually causes rust.
Summary: I had my doubts about this camera ... it just doesn't seem like it can do the job, but I was wrong. It was amazing for its size and price. I brought it to Kauai during rainy season and it was great for hikes in monsoon rains, I took it underwater for fish and tidepool shots. But where it really shined was macro shots with its strobe flash. Great results! Good movies too. However it's not that great on powder days up in the mountains.
