Summary: We bought this last May 2014 and it's stopped working December. We took great care of it, washed the salt away, dry it before using again. I am extremely disappointed as I thought this will be a long time companion for us. What's more disheartening is that Pentax won't give us the warranty saying it's a "water damage." But uhm, it's a "FREAKING WATERPROOF CAMERA!" What a waste of money and this isn't cheap at all. NOT recommender at all. BEWARE!!!!!
Summary: I'ts a lie that is shockproof, or that can tolerate a fall from 2mts. I bought one, it fell from 0.5m.(2 ft) to the ground and the acrylic cover screen broke. I wrote to Beach Camera long ago asking for guarantee and they just gave me a number to follow the complaint, but to this date they didn't gave me a solution. I wrote to Ricoh, no technical service, no parts, as well. Be careful if you buy this kind of camera you wont have guarantee , parts or technical support.
Summary: Picture quality is terrible: grainy (not good grainy) and flat outside the water, murky and flat inside the water (I was at the Dry Tortugas, and my friend's little Nikon took MUCH clearer pictures, so it wasn't the water), which pretty much made me kick myself for not buying a disposable underwater camera instead. For some reason my zoom in/out buttons did not work at all.
Summary: This camera HAD RUINED my Europe vacation!!! We received it a few days before we depart, and it went perfectly well in our first 3 days in France. All pictures were taken on the first 3 days really nice. On the 4th day, the screen suddenly turned BLACK even we had charged the battery full on the night before. It’s worst more because it happened right on our tour day at the most amazing chateau.
Summary: This brand new camera gets stuck in movie mode 50% of the time. The only way you can stop it is by opening up the battery compartment and ejecting the battery. What a hassle and not what you want if you are snorkeling at the time. It shipped after the due date it was supposed to arrive so I didn't have it for a 1 week training ship excursion when I needed it. When I got back I took it on a pacific cruise where I wanted it for snorkeling.

Summary: The camera actually worked well when you could see what you were taking a picture of. Underwater shots came out crisp and clear. However, within 3 days of using the camera, the LCD screen started to shut off on its own, one could tell that the camera still worked, and throughout the time was taking pictures. Really enjoyed the camera in the 3 days of the trip that it worked.
Summary: Very disappointed with this camera. The camera itself is decent. It takes OK pictures, although there is quite a bit of fogging of the lens. The real problem that I had, however, was the build of the accessories. I trusted the strap and carabiner that are attached to this "rugged camera." After less than a year of light use (maybe 20 picture days) the strap broke. It is not sewed or glued on, so it just came undone and the camera went crashing to the bottom of the river.
