Summary: It's too bad, because it actually took very nice photos. First owned a WG-1, then a WG-2. Both died in the water. I thought the first time it just might have been a fluke. Both times the camera was being used well within it's supposed tolerances, so either the camera is just built poorly, or engineered in such a poor way that allows the battery compartment to come open inadvertently. Either way...
Summary: They did not include the manual because the manuals are in Japanese and obviously these units are Japanese warranted. Not US. Big Value inc. did not specified this unlike other sellers. All the boxes had empty spaces because of missing manuals.
Summary: The look and feel of this camera is great and if that's all that matters this camera deserves 5 stars. But upload the pictures to the computer and you will find mediocre soft pictures. I can't even image printing one.
Burst not in scene selection, missed swimming action shots
Confused at Work, Amazon
28 January 2013
Summary: UPDATE: While packing the camera up for return, I looked at the manual & found that it did have a burst feature - but it's not located in the scene selection like in other cameras we've used. You have to press the arrow up button to find it, along with the self-timer options too. What the heck? This is an important function for sports-related shots, it should be in the scene selections menu!
Summary: Disappointing product by Pentax. the camera fogs under minimum outdoor conditions. pictures will result blurry and bad. the front lens condensates with the minimum temperature change. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
Pentax Optio WG-2 Customer Service Stinks, Jury out on camera performance
24 November 2012
Summary: iIt died after 2 weeks of use and had to be sent to pentax to repair... Although OK at first the camera stopped shooting at shutter speeds above 125 in any of the modes. I had bought the camera for action shots so this made it useless for my intended purposes. pentax received it in 9-17-2012 and haven't heard a word...for the short period of time that it did work i was impressed...may need to modify after we get it back..
Summary: look elsewhere to purchase your camera!! I purchased a camera from Adorama before Christmas to take on a January trip. the camera locked up and stopped working the first time I took it into the water. so the only way I could take snorkel pics was to purchase the disposable cameras which was pretty disappointing after spending the money for a nice camera. when we returned from vacation, they gave me lots of rude customer service because 30 days had passed.
Summary: we had this camera for about 2 weeks...during that time we were actually pleased with the picture quality and the videos it took..the camera was handled like a baby but started having issues with the pictures being out of focus..the iso was not adjusting based on the type of picture chosen...like the sports setting would not increase the iso up to handle fast shutter speeds...we called pentax and was told to send back to them...
