Pentax Optio W80

PC Magazine
3 February 2010
  • Conclusion: The $300 Pentax Optio W80 can shoot great pictures in bright conditions, but images captured at ISO 200 and above are noisier than average.
  • Pros: Compact. 5x optical zoom. 28mm wide-angle lens. 720p30 HD-video capture. Fast startup and minimal shutter lag. Waterproof to 16 feet. Freeze-proof to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Shock-proof to 3.3 feet.
  • Cons: Noisy images at ISO 200 and up. Visibly noisy video capture. Sluggish recycle time. Lens window protects against water and dings, but not fingerprints.

Pentax Optio W80

Steve's Digicams
27 October 2009
  • Excerpt: Pentax's toughest camera yet, the Optio W80, has been built to withstand an active lifestyle that most other digicams can not. This 12-Megapixel model is waterproof up to 16ft., Shockproof from over 3ft., coldproof and even dustproof. It features a 5x internal optical zoom lens, 2.5-inch LCD screen, 720p HD movie mode and multiple shake reduction options that allow this camera to compete with any other digicam in its price range as well as making it one of the top...

Pentax Optio W80

PhotographyBLOG
8 February 2010
  • Excerpt: The Pentax Optio W80 is a very well-made, compact digital camera, with a pleasing-to-the-eye two-tone silver and gunmetal grey plastic body and excellent overall finish. Thick black plastic strips on each corner help reinforce the rugged appearance of the W80 and presumably play a part in the camera's shockproof-ness. It's easily small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, measuring just 99.5(W) x 56(H) x24.5(D) mm.

Pentax Optio W80 – Review – 32

D-Photo and The Photographer's Mail
14 January 2010
  • Excerpt: Design At a glance, the Optio W80 really doesn’t look waterproof. It doesn’t look particularly shockproof, either. But having left the thing in the sink (intentionally), it is quite clearly fine when dipped in water. It’s also far sturdier than it looks; the kind of twisting and bending that usually starts cheap plastic cameras creaking has absolutely no effect on the W80.
  • Pros: Waterproof, shockproof ¨and coldproof
  • Cons: Some problems with image noise

Pentax W80 Camera Review: Waterproof And Slightly Ruggedised

Gizmodo
13 August 2009
  • Excerpt: The Pentax W80 is their last in a long line of waterproof cams that take decent shots, but have always been my favourite because of their compact size. This one is a bit bigger, but gains ruggedisation and depth.

Pentax Optio W80 review Review

CNET
20 July 2009
  • Summary: The dodgy lens on our Pentax Optio W80 might have been a one-off, but, even leaving that aside, the image quality is below par. It's shockproof and waterproof to a greater depth than its predecessor, the Optio W60, but it's pretty pricy and the Olympus mju Tough-8000, Canon PowerShot D10 and Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT1 feel better made
  • Pros: Shockproof up to 1m, 5x wideangle zoom range, High-definition movie mode
  • Cons: Poor lens performance, Noisy image processing, Over-reliant on menus

Pentax Optio W80

  • Conclusion: Beautiful and intelligently constructed compact camera boasting plenty of features. The water and dust proofing make it a cut above the rest as an amateur to intermediate travel camera.

Pentax W80

Absolut Photo
28 December 2012

digital-foto.no
21 February 2010
Under vann brytes lyset annerledes enn over vann. Dermed får man en brennviddeforlengelse som tilsvarer 1,33x.
