Summary: This cam is amazing. I bought it back in 2008, and since then took it everywhere in the world, undersea, on mountains, in the desert... It never let me down and has great shots. I lost this (my FAVORITE) camera a few months ago. After shopping around the new models (WG-90, etc) and other brands, I ended up buying the exact same camera again. You just can't beat it for what it is.
Summary: Family of 4 with 2 young kids. We bought this to replace the one I lost at the wavepool... Yeah, not happy when that happened. Neither was my wife. I was going to get either the w60 or w90, whichever came in under $100 first. First bought the W90, but it was faulty and I returned it. The W60 then came along with a "tricky power button", and I got it for under $70 with case and extra battery. (Our first had a tricky power button, too: resolved itself.
Summary: This was my first "Rugged / waterproof" camera. I purchased this camera specifically for using when camping/ hiking/ canoeing. I purchased extra batteries, protective skin case (PESOW60C), LCD Invisible Shield, Floating wrist strap, and 2 crucial 8Gb memory cards in June of 09. I tried it at home a little bit to familiarize myself with it. Then it went on a 12 day backpacking trip at Philmont Scout Camp in New Mexico.
Pros: I have not had to worry about keeping it dry or dust free. It has survived being left in a car in 90 degree weather with the window rolled up for 8hrs. As well as being sat on, dropped from small heights, set down on counters & rocks none to gently. Like the post office it has delivered no matter, rain, snow or shine. I've never had to decide on IF to take the camera with me because of where I was going, the weather or what I was doing. Though I did take it out of my ...
Cons: I don't like the fact that I can not zoom in and out when taking video. You have to set the depth to where you want it and then start taking the video., I do not use the High def video due to the low frame rate., I'm afraid to use it underwater due to other reviews of it not to survive this as well as the reviews of poor customer service after having problems. Though I do imagine this is mostly due to, you get one good customer review per 20 bad reviews. People tend t...
Summary: This has been a great camera. Small and has stood up to dirt, water and had use. The optional rubber skin helps.
Pros: Macro shots, form factor and image quality compared to its peers.
Cons: Weaknesses are not at the camera as much as the type. One needs to know the modes and watch the ISO settings. I limit ISO at 400 and use green button mode to go higher in a hurry to make sure I don't have too much grain. Battery life is not great.
Summary: I was quite impressed with the quality of the Pentax Optio W60. On the water, in the water or anywhere, it takes great pictures. Just went on vacation recently and everyone commented on the clarity and image quality.
Summary: I had been looking for a compact, not too expensive, easy to clean digital camera that I can take on fishing/boating/kayaking trips without worry about slim or saltwater splash. Recently it seems quite a number of vendors came up with inexpensive but also feature-rich waterproof cameras, such as Olympus, Pentax, Canon, Fuji and Panasonic.
Pros: Bright LCD, Comfortable Controls, Easy Setup, Easy to Keep Clean, Easy To Use, Great Picture Quality, Great Value, Strong Construction
Summary: I was looking for this camera for a week long fishing trip I was going on. I called JR and the sales person was excellent. Not pushy didnt try and over sell and I recieved the camera in 2 days. The camera itself was wet and dropped in the water a few different times. No problems at all. This camera is marketed as a waterproof camera however for the low cost and quality of the photos its perfect for everyday use and you do not have to worry about it getting wet in the rain...
Pros: Comfortable Controls, Easy Setup, Easy to Keep Clean, Easy To Use, Great Picture Quality, Strong Construction
Summary: Have used this camera as a travel camera dues to its small size, excellent case and the zoom feature to 5X. Even set on automatic the white balance and aperature settings were always set right.
Pros: Bright LCD, Easy Setup, Easy To Use, Great Picture Quality, Strong Construction
Summary: I wanted a camera that can go underwater (mainly in a pool) to take pictures and video clips. This camera fits the bill nicely. It is small, easy to use, and the quality of the pictures is great. The LCD underwater is a little dark, maybe I need to adjust the settings, but I managed to get the pics and video.
Pros: Easy Setup, Easy to Keep Clean, Easy To Use, Great Picture Quality, Strong Construction
Summary: I've bought four of these cameras for use at a coal fired power plant. We crawl into boilers, tanks, turbines and pits with these cameras and you never have to worry about them not working unless the battery is dead. They've been dropped, run over, dunked in gunk and still work, just rinse them off under the water faucet, fire hose or find a clean water puddle (seriously). We keep spare batteries on hand. Great close ups for documentation.
