Summary: This is my third incarnation of this camera--the first literally died after daily use of up to 500 pictures over a three year period. The second I dropped and broke but if I hit it on the palm of my hand I can still get it to take pictures. The only thing I am sorry about is that it doesn't take good panoramic shots, as my old film camera did. I travel for at least four months of the year on road trips all over the country. I carry this camera in my purse.

Summary: for the price this camera is well worth it. However, I am of the opinion Pentax no longer manufactures this model and as been replaced by Optio VS 20 which I also own and it is also a great purchase
Summary: This is my second RZ18. I bought this one to replace one that stopped working. It was cheaper to buy new than repair the old one. I love this little camera. My only complaint is the lens cover is very fragile and does not close properly.
Summary: I wanted a camera that wouldn't break the bank that I could take on bike rides, hikes... I wanted good image quality, wide zoom range, and ease of use. This camera fit the bill perfectly. It has a wide range of automatic settings, for landscapes, motion, etc; these usually work great, but I can make adjustments if I like. I've snapped a bunch of photos with it, and I am quite impressed. The case is cheap plastic, but the guts of the camera are great.
Summary: Bought this camera for a trip to Europe. It worked beautifully and took great shots. The zoom was amazing and really expanded the versatility of the camera. Others have commented about the camera housing. I found it not to be an issue and it seems pretty well constructed. I hope to use it for many years to come. P.S. I only paid $150 for it, but looks like Amazon raised the price to $215. While pricey, I still think it is worth it.
