Summary: This is a nice camera with lots of features. I gave it a four because I'm having trouble setting up the transfer to my computer. It's not plug and play like I expected and I'm not a nerd but that's not really the camera's fault.
Summary: I bought this camera for the great zoom. Upon receiving it felt very light-weight and plastic. I turned it on once and everything seemed to be fine, but upon a second boot the display was covered in lines and would flicker on and off depending up on the angle that the camera was held at. Had in my possession less than 24 hours before I returned it.
Summary: Camera was on backorder since July 29, 2013. Seller did stay in contact with us. He finally cancelled order since he could not get cameras in to fufill order. He tried to make order right but it just did not work out. Will try again later but hope he has the correct price listed this time. Sorry this order did not work out...............
Summary: This is my third small Pentax Optio, and the first of the RZ=18 series. It worked fine until the day I needed it and when pushing the "on" button, all I got were several beeps and the camera turned off. Same with batteries from my other Pentaxes. Checked online and found this is a common problem with this camera, although I'd had no problems with RZ-10's. Annoyed, I tapped the camera twice on my knee and - lo and behold - it works again! Heck of a way to fix a camera!
Summary: I never found this camera satisfactory during its brief life. Pictures taken outdoors with the zoom, utilizing various preset settings, were seldom sharp or crisp. In bright light they were very washed out, almost gauzy. Pictures that came out great would have come out great using almost any up to date digital camera. The form factor was also rather clunky. Then I took it to the beach. Some sand got somewhere near the zoom lens, into the works, and that was it. Trashed.
Summary: I wanted a camera that wouldn't break the bank that I could take on bike rides, hikes... I wanted good image quality, wide zoom range, and ease of use. This camera fit the bill perfectly. It has a wide range of automatic settings, for landscapes, motion, etc; these usually work great, but I can make adjustments if I like. I've snapped a bunch of photos with it, and I am quite impressed. The case is cheap plastic, but the guts of the camera are great.
Summary: Bought this camera for a trip to Europe. It worked beautifully and took great shots. The zoom was amazing and really expanded the versatility of the camera. Others have commented about the camera housing. I found it not to be an issue and it seems pretty well constructed. I hope to use it for many years to come. P.S. I only paid $150 for it, but looks like Amazon raised the price to $215. While pricey, I still think it is worth it.
Summary: Bought this to replace an Olympus SZ-12 that broke after two weeks. I have read comments about the cheap look of this camera, but if you get it in black, it actual looks pretty cool. I would also recommend that if you buy this camera make sure it is from KEH camera as they inspect it and give a decent warranty. I have taken about 100 pictures in the last week and I really like this camera. The pictures are sharp and the colors turn out well.
