Summary: Overall, I'm happy with this camera. The "shortcomings" I list below don't affect me very much. It has way more modes than are necessary, but once you find which ones you really need, you can just ignore the rest (like the mode for photographing food dishes). There are three shortcomings for this camera. 1- Pictures in low light rooms. I have tried many modes that are suppose to be made for low light pictures and still can't get very clear images.
Excerpt: Useable for a child's toy at $99 price point from B&H. Otherwise too much post processing to clean up color shift and CA. General lens performance for the physical size and zoom factor is admirable. Image processing removes wide angle distortion effectively. Problems: AWB doesnt work and manual isnt much better, blue cast in daylight, horrific sickening yellow-green cast in incandescents.
Excerpt: Few month ago I start search for new compact camera to upgrade from my great last Olympus Stylus 800. I buy the P80. Low prise, chip quality, specialy of the picture. The sensor is crap. Sorry pentax, the quality of the picture is like in my Cellphone with 5mpx. Problems: None.
