Excerpt: Useable for a child's toy at $99 price point from B&H. Otherwise too much post processing to clean up color shift and CA. General lens performance for the physical size and zoom factor is admirable. Image processing removes wide angle distortion effectively. Problems: AWB doesnt work and manual isnt much better, blue cast in daylight, horrific sickening yellow-green cast in incandescents.
Summary: This is the WORST digital camera I have ever used. I probably need to take 5 photos to get 1 to turn out. They are blurry, orange in color, and sometimes nothing but streaks all across as if I have it set on one of the settings you would need a tripod for (which I have it set to auto). I am returning it ASAP! I think I'll go back to my Nikon Coolpix!
Excerpt: Few month ago I start search for new compact camera to upgrade from my great last Olympus Stylus 800. I buy the P80. Low prise, chip quality, specialy of the picture. The sensor is crap. Sorry pentax, the quality of the picture is like in my Cellphone with 5mpx. Problems: None.
Excerpt: Small snagless pocket camera thats noticeably better in every respect than my previous Pentax touch screen compact. Full auto mode uses flash intelligently but low flash power limits its usefulness to about eight feet. Sensitivity noise is exaggerated by the temptation to zoom in on the large 12MP images. Use the picture mode menu to get a usable picture every time. Good battery life. Has programmable hot button and an audio recorder mode. Problems: None after one month.
Excerpt: Re: construction:The camera is rock solid but I've deducted .5 point because of the battery/SD card compartment door. It has come off "track" twice in the ~50 times I've opened it. Re: Ease of use: Once you have waded through the 244-page manual and memorized most of what you need to know (there is a lot), then gotten used to its small size, it is easy to use. I bought it to take with me when I didn't, or couldn't, take my Pentax K20D with me.
Excerpt: I bought this for a girl friend, and was surprised by the great picture quality. It's very easy to use with a simple menu. LCD screen can be difficult to see in the sun, and the zoom moves too fast, but those are common problems. The anti-shake is just post capture processing. A good camera for a non-photographer. Very happy with this camera at $149. from B&H.
Summary: Very satisfied with this camera. Very light and with relatively long lasting battery when NOT zooming all the time. Properly boxed. Fast. It is not robust enough. Didn't manage to get a good photo of my friends playing squash. Very good in focusing at still object at very small distances (flowers etc.
Summary: I've had this camera for just over a month. It's small light weight and easy to use. Like most cameras, though less than friendly if your right hand doesn't work too well. that side. what a cracking camera. You can adjust the assistance the camera gives you to suit your needs. from fully "let the camera sort it out" to taking full control of all parameters. most of my photographs are of skies landscapes and horses.
