Pentax Optio M900

CNET
19 April 2014
  • Summary: If you only have £100 or less to spend on a friendly beginner camera, the Pentax Optio M900 offers a fair return for a modest investment. But an outlay of just £50 more will get you a better camera in Nikon's similar S5100 -- and better pictures, too.
  • Cons: Variable white balance giving rise to the occasional odd colour cast;. Modest feature set -- no HD movies;. Zoom action is noisy, so can't zoom in video mode.

Pentax Optio M900 review

Pocket Lint
7 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Pentax’s plain yet not unattractive Optio M900 pocket compact has an asking price of a mere £100 - so it can’t be all that much cop, can it? Our thoughts exactly - and yet the camera surprised us, up to a point, from the minute we eased it from its box and clasped it in our palm, its black or burgundy body barely wider and no longer than the average phone handset.
  • Pros: Tactile rubber coated exterior, cheap price, easy to use, simple to navigate feature set
  • Cons: Basic feature set, no HD video, optical zoom disabled when recording movies, white balance issues and inconsistent performance, flash fires automatically in lower lighting
