Summary: I bought this inexpensive shooter for its features, price and looks. I should have focused more on the quality of the pictures it takes. Under well-lit conditions it takes pretty good photos. Beware, however, that under certain "modes" it alters (ahem, "enhances") the natural colors quite a bit. But under low-lit conditions it takes very dark and grainy photos. Not good at all. The housing is made of some metal material with a black coating.
Summary: Upgraded from an Optio S4. Not initially impressed with new camera. Battery compartment keeps sliding open at slightest excuse. My 256M card from S4 is not recognised, and can't format. I will not be able to use this for my son's sports day today :( Battery and charger have changed shape and pins from S4, so will have to take 2 chargers around with me (my son is having the S4), another pointless change :( I just hope it works with the 8G card, when it finally arrives.
Summary: I spent a long time dithering between much more expensive Lumix and Canon options for a pocket-sized snapper, then opted for this on the basis of price and reviews. The quality of the images is very good; the build is a little flimsy (particularly the battery compartment); but the value is remarkable.
Summary: I bought this camera to replace my old Olympus camera and was extremely pleased with what I got. The first thing I noticed was the impressively compact size of the camera and its simplistic design. Even though its quite a small camera the screen is fairly large. Its not the best quality screen but it will do for just reviewing your photos on the go. The picture quality is pretty good and at 14MP you'd be hard pressed finding a higher spec camera for less.
Summary: Happily those kind people from Amazon agreed to take it back. All the photos I took turned out very dark and very granular. Sadly, this one proves the rule that you get what you pay for. It's complete rubbish.
Summary: Bought this camera because of the excellent offer price but the screen failed three days after I received it. No problem getting full refund from Amazon and bought a Canon Ixus 105 instead. It cost a little more money but is a far superior camera.
Summary: I have two young boys 2.5 years old and few days old and the older son loves playing-actually destroying !- cameras. So I needed something easy and cheap to use , when not using my Cannon DSLR. It was no brainer! Fantastic "bulletproof" casing, can handle my son's "torture", excellent optics for the money, very good purchase.
Summary: the good: - very fair picture and movie quality for casual shots the bad: - very low sound in movie mode - have a feeling movie mode has digital zoom only - better don't use it - need to remove the battery to charge in the charger (my old samsung didn't require to do so) the ugly: - battery flap far too easily opens battery compartment, happens accidentally quite often, risk to damage the flap, really annoying
