Summary: Used this camera for the first time yesterday... I guess I need to read the manual because I didn't know how to adjust the ISO when taking shots... got it down only to 400, I really wanted to shoot at 100.
Excerpt: I received this camera as a gift for Christmas, and I must say that it was the best gift that I have received in a long while. The outside of the camera is seems to be very durable and well made. The paint seems like it might chip easily, however, this is a minor detail. The pictures are amazing. The camera has various filters built in which creates a fun and creative experience for the user. The price on the camera is fairly inexpensive for the quality of the product.
Excerpt: I owned a K-x for just over a year. At the time the K-r was rather well featured for an entry level DSLR it has a solid strong spec which is clearly a cut above most other makers at this price point Lots of things to get stuck into the K-x actually has a more mid level spec compared to most other models in this price range.
Summary: I bought this camera just before leaving on a two-week photographic tour through nine states, and it's the first DSLR I've used. I read the 315-page manual, but wish there was more detail to it. Most of the pics I took were from using the auto pic mode, and they turned out very well - both indoors and outdoors. Later I attended a week long National Geographic photo workshop where I was only allowed to operate the camera using the manual setting.
Excerpt: I've been using this camera for two years and very satisfied with it. There's almost nothing bad about this camera considering its price range. The only drawback is its lack of AF point in viewfinder, which I already knew before I got this one. I think of rather having it occasionally when some of my photos' wb are off. Otherwise very little noise even under high ISO and details are retained. Overall I highly recommend this camera.
Summary: I bought a Pentax K-x with the 18-55 and 50-200mm lenses for $539.It was a really great deal. This is my first DSLR camera. I have always just had a point and shoot camera and boy is there a difference. There is so much to learn and the manual will be your best friend if you do not have any prior experience. My first Pentax k-x had a black dot on the viewfinder, but amazon quickly sent me another one the very next day with no problems. The second camera was perfectly fine.
