Summary: After using the K-x for a couple of weeks, I announced to my wife "If I weren't already married to you, I'd marry this camera because I love it so much!" I've now taken the camera on two trips and taken about 2,000 shots with it, and I can honestly say I'm even more pleased with it than I thought I'd be.
Summary: Well, as a first time DSLR owner, I must say this product is great for beginner like me. The AutoMode is great, it is helping me to shoot really nice pictures already. There are 2 things I don't like. 1. Video - it is limited to 4GB or 25 minutes of video 2. Live View - I found that Live View is difficult to focus.
Summary: The Pentax KX is the best camera I have owned. I have used Nikon SLR's and an Olympus DSLR, and many point and shoot, and mega-zoom point and shoot cameras. The quality I get from my photos with The KX are incredible. You can see from pictures I have posted and more at my flickr page (mattzilic), the camera allows for very sharp pictures. Low light shots are good, better than what I've gotten with other cameras. Color is fantastic.
Summary: This is my first SLR camera. It takes fantastic pictures and has more options and tweaks than you could ever want. Its very easy to use right out of the box even for my wife, yet if you want to tweak your photos and get into it everything SLR offers, the options are there and then some.
Summary: I use this camera mainly for family picture taking and so far the results have been very good. I like the fast shutter speed. This is very good for catching the grand children at play as they always on the move.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, High ISO Performance, Large Clear LCD, Quiet
Summary: I bought the K1000 and upgraded to this immediately for the video and live view. I don't use live view at all now bc it takes too long to focus. I don't mind it at all! I absolutely love this camera! And it's comletely in a metal casing, making it feel much sturdier than other cameras! After upgrading, I bought this model twice! The first was stolen. One day before leaving the US, I decided I had to have it! [...
Pros: Easy To Use, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Large Clear LCD
Excerpt: I love the green button, as I can change programming. can do semi-pro pictures. third camera bod compatible with wireless release. lighter even with Ni-Mh AA batteries. extremely fast with FPS.
Pros: easy to use. works with older non-pentax lens
Cons: white kit lens does not work with black hood from K100d kit lens - white lens wider, causes viggetting.
Summary: This camera may be about the best choice for a super-zoom sufferer who is finally ready to give up on limited optics and tiny point-and-shoot sensors and wants to explore what a real digital camera can do. If you do not feel like spending thousands of $$$ on your dSLR setup, then this camera is a great choice.
Summary: After many years of Point and Shoot compacts (Minolta S414, Canon S400, S410, Fuji F10, F30) and Ultra Zooms (Panasonic FZ18) I finally bit the bullet and bought the Pentax K-x Dual lens kit DLSR from Amazon. After a couple of weeks of wait, it was delivered much ahead of the original 1 month delivery period and at a great price too! Initially I was using the camera on the Auto mode as that is what I usually used in the P&S cameras. And was I terribly disappointed!
