Summary: We have had this camera now for over 3 years and have taken thousands of photo's. We absolutely love it. Not only is it nice to look at but it takes great pictures and great videos (in good light).
Summary: I caught the camera bug as a 12 year-old and after quickly progressing from a Yashica rangefinder which I had inherited to a very primitive Praktica 35mm SLR, I set my sights on what was then the most popular camera in existence, a Canon AE-1. When I was 14, I happened across the Pentax KX in the used camera section of a local shop one day, and since it came with a set of nice Pentax lenses--a 50mm F1.4 and a 200mm F4, would use my existing screw mount lenses (for the...
Pros: Absolutely reliable. Mechanical functions--will continue to work (sans light meter) even if battery fails. The bayonet mount this camera uses--the "K" mount--is perhaps the most common of all bayonet mounts, and an almost endless variety of lenses are available. Add to this all of the Pentax screw-mount lenses--all easily adaptable to the K mount via a common and easily available adapter--and you have access to an almost endless variety of lenses. Controls are well-pl...
Cons: Only complaint I have is that aperture readout in viewfinder is via a lens/mirror system that reflects number from aperture ring on lens into the viewfinder. Over time, this mirror became slightly out of adjustment--but this made virtually no difference to me for the way I used the camera and I never felt the need to get it realigned. Extremely minor (in my view) problem.
Summary: The operation of this is complicated, but worth learning! The photos it takes are outstanding. It has features that my old fashioned camera required me to carry around, but here, with the click of a button, I have filters and exposures -- and I love that it is RED - I never leave it anywhere!!
Summary: I love this camara. The only thing is that the shutter is a bit noisy to be close to the objetive we want to take a picture a bit close and go unnoticed. Nice cámara for a principiant, to get used with a reflex.
Excerpt: Bought this camera for my work, after reading all professional excellent reviews. Very disappointed with the performance. It just can’t produce decent pictures. I get a lot better pictures with the Fuji S100FS that I own private. I take about 10 000 pictures a year so I consider me to be fairly experienced. Problems: Scharpness is very bad. Autofocus speed in live view is horrible, live view can only be used for macro purpose when using manual focus.
Excerpt: I am a diehard Pentax lover, currently owning three cameras from the brand, one which includes a K-x. The K-x is great for people first learning on how to use a dslr camera, with it's slogan as, "break all the rules," it does just that with body colors ranging from white to neon green, which looks pretty dandy compared to the usual black body.
My Pentax Kx is the best low price DSLR on the market!

Excerpt: I received my Pentax Kx DSLR camera as a gift from my husband and I was just thrilled to open the box. I have really become interested in photography lately, and I was told that this was one of the best beginner DSLR cameras on the market today. I agree wholeheartedly. First of all, the price is amazing for what this camera is capable of.
