Summary: The Pentax K-x (with the two lenses) is a terrific buy, and the little guy is all I could hope for (I got the white version which is just too cool). I have old K-mount lenses from my early SLR days, so the K-x value to me is multiplied several fold, a wonderful addition for what is my "grab camera." (that is, it gets to ride around in the car all the time, superheated summers AND winter).
Summary: I'm a amateur, I have been using p&s for many years and this is my first DSLR. Shipping was so fast! I got it with two kit lenses at [...] from Portable Guy via Amazon.com, free shipping, UPS delivered within three business days! Package is kind of rough, not made in Japan, but it's pretty solid in hands. I guess that's why it's so inexpensive. Tonight I got a chance to have moon shot, handheld, Tv mode, it's crisp sharp, SR is amazing!
Summary: This camera is simply awesome. I used to be a Nikon 35mm SLR fan and user. But Pentax has proven to be the best quality out there right now.The image quality of this camera is just amazing and sharp, ease of use right out of the box. I highly recommend this camera ,it is the best that I have tested for three months and it beats canon and Nikon for its class. Very satisfied and great price. Will add couple of pictures for review.
Summary: I was so impressed to see all the features that I could get in this entry-level-priced DSLR! I was considering the Nikon D5000 or the Sony A390, but I could get everything those had for a lower price in the K-x (& Pentax is a well-known name in the world of SLRs). It quickly arrived and the past five weeks I have been learning the wonderful world of DSLRs. The camera fits my hand very comfortably - it doesn't feel large or awkward or too heavy to hold.
Summary: I was in market for a mid level DSLR for about a year. I bought Canon Rebel T1i before purchasing this model. After keeping the Rebel for two months, I decided to go back to market. Here is in short my take on the comparison between Rebel and K-x: 1.) K-x is much faster 2.) K-x takes better pictures in dark rooms. (way better than canon) 3.) K-x is lighter and easy to handle 4.) Kit lens are larger 5.
Summary: This is my first serious camera and I am still reading the manual. I fail more often then not in taking the picture I want to take even with the auto pic. At least I am not using up film, it's so easy to delete the pictures on the card or to format the entire card once I have transferred them to my PC. Photoshop has saved more than one picture! I am too much of a newbie to truly evaluate the quality of this camera. I give it a 4 star for all the functionalities it has.
Summary: Bought this after a ton of research. So far I'm very impressed with picture quality, ease of use and overall value. My "camera friends" (e.g., those who work with cameras for a living) were impressed with the camera given its price. It takes a little work, but you can get truly unbelievable pictures out of this thing. Coming from a Canon point-and-shoot, it's a night and day difference.
Summary: Likes: 1) Reasonable 12 megapixel resolution 2) Live View 3) 720p HD video recording 4) HDR photography embedded 5) Can use regular / rechargeable AA batteries - always a plus when going on a trip and forgetting to recharge the battery the night before 6) Best value for the above features in an entry level camera (now available by some online retailers for 480 USD) Dislikes: 1) 11 point AF without AF points in view-finder (but can live with it) 2) No Pentax software with...
Summary: My first Pentax was a Spotmatic many years ago, great camera. Obviously Pentax has only gotten better over the years. This is an exceptionally easy camera to use, lightweight, fun, and produces fantastic photos. Great buy!
