Summary: My new Pentax Kx is the perfect camera for someone new to a DSLR. It has wonderful automatic settings to get me through until I take my upcoming digital photography course at my Community College. I was looking for something that I could add on to while I learn, on my limited budget. The Pentax DSLR cameras will use any lenses made by Pentax since 1952! This means that I can pick up good used lenses at a decent price.
Summary: After much research - most of it positive except for lack of AF feedback (i.e. highlighting of points in focus), I decided to buy this camera. Many notable positives are 1) Biggest bang for buck compared to most expensive Canon and more expensive Nikon. Also have had bad experience with Canon and was very hesitant with their cameras. 2) Impressed by the Image quality especially the low light shots. None of the other cameras offer such good low light image quality.
Summary: Bought this camera after doing a lot of online research (and returning a Canon G11 P&S). Build quality is good, the economies taken in production to meet the entry-level price point are generally well chosen, and if you are making the leap from a Pentax film camera to digital, you can use your old lenses (with varying functionality depending on the lens series.) The ability to use NiMH rechargeable AAs rather than expensive proprietary batteries is a nice plus.
Summary: I have just begun using this camera. Pictures are great. Color is a very bright red but I'll keep it. Lightweight, but that's good. Wish lens cap had a string to keep attached like my our SLR. Good price for the features.
Summary: The Pentax K-x (with the two lenses) is a terrific buy, and the little guy is all I could hope for (I got the white version which is just too cool). I have old K-mount lenses from my early SLR days, so the K-x value to me is multiplied several fold, a wonderful addition for what is my "grab camera." (that is, it gets to ride around in the car all the time, superheated summers AND winter).
Summary: I'm a amateur, I have been using p&s for many years and this is my first DSLR. Shipping was so fast! I got it with two kit lenses at [...] from Portable Guy via Amazon.com, free shipping, UPS delivered within three business days! Package is kind of rough, not made in Japan, but it's pretty solid in hands. I guess that's why it's so inexpensive. Tonight I got a chance to have moon shot, handheld, Tv mode, it's crisp sharp, SR is amazing!
Summary: This will be a short and brief review: Pros: * Excellent super sharp pictures * Compact, feels tough and good handling Cons * Slow and inaccurate autofocus - extremely frustrating at times This is my first DSLR after having used Canon Digital Film SLR. The biggest flow that I find in the Pentax k-X with the kit lens is that the autofocus speed is pathetic and also inaccurate.
Summary: This camera is simply awesome. I used to be a Nikon 35mm SLR fan and user. But Pentax has proven to be the best quality out there right now.The image quality of this camera is just amazing and sharp, ease of use right out of the box. I highly recommend this camera ,it is the best that I have tested for three months and it beats canon and Nikon for its class. Very satisfied and great price. Will add couple of pictures for review.
Summary: I was so impressed to see all the features that I could get in this entry-level-priced DSLR! I was considering the Nikon D5000 or the Sony A390, but I could get everything those had for a lower price in the K-x (& Pentax is a well-known name in the world of SLRs). It quickly arrived and the past five weeks I have been learning the wonderful world of DSLRs. The camera fits my hand very comfortably - it doesn't feel large or awkward or too heavy to hold.
Summary: This is my first serious camera and I am still reading the manual. I fail more often then not in taking the picture I want to take even with the auto pic. At least I am not using up film, it's so easy to delete the pictures on the card or to format the entire card once I have transferred them to my PC. Photoshop has saved more than one picture! I am too much of a newbie to truly evaluate the quality of this camera. I give it a 4 star for all the functionalities it has.
