Pentax K-r

antiochguy, Amazon

  • Summary: My first SLR was a Pentax. I like Pentax cameras and find this camera satisfactory for the family photographs which I take now. It is very good in available light situations and has a great range of aperature and lens speed choices. Battery life is good. If you own other Pentax lenses, they will most likely work on this camera on manual settings. I recommend this camera for general use.

  • Summary: This was my well researched purchase. I've traveled internationally into hard and dusty climates with this and it is a trooper. I have gotten compliments on the vivid color of the photos and have gotten jobs I didn't expect because I can take some really nice shots with this machine. I pretty much have to buy accessories (lenses, etc) on line because the city I live in isn't big on Pentax, but it still was a great choice. I'd buy it again.

  • Summary: Bought this item online after doing some research. I wanted a good beginner's DSLR camera that I wouldn't need to upgrade after a year. This camera is great right out of the box with fully Automatic programming. Once you learn the basics. Great HD Video mode.

Solid DSLR

CHARLES, Amazon

  • Summary: Nice step up from Kx. This feels as solid as DSLRs from Canon and Nikon in the $1000 range. Next step is a K30 or 50. Pentax is a small co.. with gr8 products. For the $$$ you cant beat em.

great purchase

  • Summary: I bought this used item, to test whether if I want to buy a new one. Nice camera, still trying to learn how to operate it. It's noisy though, I think I like those cameras that don't make a sound or click every time you push the shutter. Otherwise, its great, I think. The look of it is great, everyone notices the white color. I specifically wanted a white camera and this one fits perfectly.

love this camera

  • Summary: It's my first DSLR camera and am very happy with it. Good choice for entry level photographers. I did extensive comparisons with various Canon and Nikon cameras and I kept coming back to this Pentax for the value and options it offered for the price. This camera has lots of functions and options and fills good to hold.

A fantastic starter camera that will let you make professional looking images on a bit of a budget

  • Summary: Two years ago I was just getting into photography, this was the setup I got, and I could not be more pleased with that choice. I use it to this day and have taken some great shots over the last couple years. With the K-r you get a fully functional DSLR thats great for learning. It may not have as nice of a sensor as the K-5 or K-7 so it doesn't perform quite as well in low light (but its fine for most lighting and with some help holding it steady you can make due just...
