Excerpt: When I held the camera for the first time I said, "WoW!, Pentax really stepped-up the cameras ergonomics wih this new body design." The camera has an incredible feel to it when you hold it, as does the K-5 which is even nicer with the taller shooting function knob. This body style is unlike anything I've ever got my hands on.
Summary: i had a k-7 briefly (returned it in anticipation of the new k-5 model) and i can tell you that this is a very nicely designed body. it's lightweight yet bombproof and small enough that it doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself. my only complaint is the lock on the shooting mode dial is a little hard to operate. I wasn't crazy about the high ISO noise though so thought I would wait and see if a rumored k-7 super was to be forthcoming or for the k-5.
Well, I can't really keep this camera.... unfortunately

Summary: I do have tender feelings for Pentax cameras. I used Pentax DSLRs for years, first k10, later k20 and now I have been trying K7. Sorry to say, but I'm going to return the camera for a refund. It feels awesome in hand (just like all Pentax bodies I used) it has an edge in advanced features, unfortunately, for my taste it is severely lacking in image quality. The image simply isn't sharp, even after calibration it is not.
Excerpt: The bottom line is Image Quality , and this camera deliver average image quality. High noise is present even in ISO 200. * Build Quality - is very good, But build quality is hiding a very average image quality. * It seems that Pentax engineer did not finish the work, so they had to wrap it with build quality and tones of settings that are not needed. I also have the Pentax DS2 and K200D, and I have compared image quality from these camera with the K- 7.
Summary: Though I feel that the k7 is an adequate replacement for the k10d I had, I think it's a mostly mediocre product and value given that the k20d can be had for half the price. There are a few features that I think make the k7d better than the k20d: Better autofocus. Better auto WB. 100% view finder. Electronic leveling. Beautiful LCD screen. Faster FPS Cool retro pentax neck-strap mounts. No one will fess up to whether or not the k7d is supposed to replace the k20d.
Excerpt: It is an excellent photographic machine, that is a device to take pictures with. Ergonomics are top notch, AF is improved over previous Pentax models, viewfinder is comfortable if a little small (APS-C), but you can buy a magnifying eyepiece that makes things more tolerable, reliable metering. It is a good camera. When it comes to image quality, in my opinion good old K10D still outdoes this camera by a fair margin (as long as you shoot between ISO 100 and ISO 640.
Pros: Ergonomics, Viewfinder, Plethora of features to play with
Kamerarezension zur Pentax K-7 (einschließlich K-5)
22 February 2012
