Pentax K-5 Review

What Digital Camera
24 January 2011
  • Summary: For £1180 the K-5 offers a whole lot for the money. Weather-sealing and super-fast continuous burst options aren’t going to be easily found elsewhere at this price point. However, both the Canon 60D (£920 with 18-55mm kit lens) and Nikon D7000 (£1160 with 18-105mm) are, at the time of writing, more...
  • Pros: Best-yet AF system, great image quality, weather-sealed design, super-fast continuous shooting
  • Cons: Underwhelming 18-55mm kit lens, no AF in movie mode, Motion-JPEG only movie files

Pentax K-5

Pocket Lint
6 December 2010
  • Conclusion: The Pentax K-5 is very similar to the K-7 overall and that’s because that camera is very good; the K-5 brings a new sensor and new features to the party that make it an even more rounded camera in our view.
  • Pros: Superb image quality with bags of detail, great range of features, particularly Sensitivity priority and Shutter and Aperture Priority modes, body integral Anti-Shake, anti-dust system, build and environment protection, RAW (PEF or DNG) +JPEG mode, excellent screen and 100% optical viewfinder
  • Cons: Some features such as HDR shooting only available in JPEG shooting, slightly soft default images, does not accept SDXC cards, standard 18-55mm lens suffers from magenta and blue fringing

Pentax K-5 Digital SLR Review

ePHOTOzine
23 November 2010
  • Summary: Here Pentax have a camera that is punching very much above its weight. The K-5 can happily take on cameras costing twice as much or more and especially with this fine new sensor will be in a position to challenge any of the APS-C alternatives, at any price.
  • Pros: Robust and light, Superb colour, Weathersealing, Quality of lenses, Ergonomic design, Value for money, Backwards Compatibility with lenses
  • Cons: Fiddly SD card removal, Limited range of Pentax telephoto lenses

Lyd & Billede
17 August 2011
