Summary: It has taken some time to get used to this camera, as I'm not yet accustomed to trying to take professional-quality photos with a point and shoot camera. The quality off the sensor is amazing, and if you have the old FA43 and 77 lenses, once you get critical focus figured out, you are rewarded with beautiful images. The best part is being able to put the camera down in places you can't put your face and still take shots.
Summary: Solid, clean sensor, great microphone, easy video. A few controls are a little akward compared to a k7/k5, but easily manageable. Being mirrorless, it holds up to the aforementioned k's in terms of sound. Great backup camera. Fun/different prime camera.
Summary: I love this camera! It does a hundred things I'll probably never need or use, but as an outdoor photographer it does everything I need and more! My older Pentax K-mount lenses fit and work perfectly, so my old Pentax ME Super 35mm camera is now officially retired.
Summary: Very satisfied !!! I have a k5ii as primary camera, but in video settings its a mile away to be perfect, so I bought this mirrorless specifically for video, and works perfect, full manual exposure controls, microphone jack, hdmi out, but no audio levels monitoring, so bad. For photography is perfect too, apsc sensor as well as the most dslr semi pro, pictures are great, even with the focus peaking issue, I mean, focus peak is great but, is not as accurate as expected.
Summary: I got this one as it was being phased out because of all the badmouth because of the unusual looks and some who didn't like the rubberized cover and even some who didn't like the flap over the memory door. I took a look at this one and decided it was a steal with the two lenses included. I bought it and have used it with no problems. Admittedly I'm no great shakes with DSLR's but this one is so easy to take great pictures with I can pretend I'm Mr. Camera himself.
Summary: I agree 100% with the first reviewer- Carlton Garrald. I bought this camera when it was cleared out by Pentax for around $300! Thank you press and critics who helped me had my best camera deal. I sold the kit 40mm lens for around $200. Used the camera with 50mm F1.4 lens I had and with some Super Takumar lenses. If you can stand with two drawbacks- lack of optical viewfinder and the orthodox style of Pentax k-01, this is probably one of the best dslr cameras for 2012.
