Summary: Making the move from film to digital, I had my eye on the Nikon D7100 and the Pentax K3, leaning towards the Pentax. My first SLR was an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic purchased while in the military in the 60's; it's relative compactness and ease of use definitely influenced my buying decision. I have since used other 35 mm' s from Pentax, Nikon/Nikkormat, and for years various Canon EOS bodies.
Summary: Being a Pentax ME-Super owner, with over a thousand dollars invested in optics, I bit on the K-01 offer from Amazon, for $429.00. (Now $399)This offer included two zoom lenses, albeit the plastic kit variety, but was, at worst, a great way to get into a higher quality camera, at a fire sale price. First of all, this camera is not at all photogenic. Almost anything with an APS-C sensor has a better appearance on a web page.
Summary: camara has very good IQ, albeit lacking some of the more professional features. Reflection of in camara flash in close room with light color walls too strong for eyes, partially due to silver color painting around flash on camara. Other than that, no comlain at all.
Love Pentax cameras and this one doesn't disappoint

Summary: Having recently bought a Q7 system with a suite of lenses I really didn't NEED to buy the K-01 and wasn't even aware of this product when I bought the Q7. I had used an older Pentax *ist DL for animation for years and was interested in upgrading to something with more megapixels and video capabilities. I was enjoying the Q7 and while researching cameras for a work project I became interested in the mirrorless category and came across this oddity.
Excerpt: ok i love it first thing i really do its big for a mirorles however it outperforms most aps-c dslr of its year BUT BUT it has a slight meetering problem it wants to use slow shutter speeds alwayes
TAKES THE BEST PICTURES ON AUTO FOCUS EVER - LACKING A VIEWFINDER AT THIS HIGH PRICE POINT IS JUST PLAIN STUPID.

Summary: Don't get me wrong this is a fine camera for what it does right but for what this camera does wrong it is almost unforgivable. First issue no view finder. If this Pentax K01 camera had a viewfinder I would be so giving it a five star rating on that tiny addition alone. The way this camera functions it begs for a good basic TTL viewfinder. The view finder saves on battery life. With the Pentax K01 the display is always on which eats up battery life.
Summary: The Pentax Mirrorless is larger than other mirrorless cameras but the price is right. The larger size allows one to use the large selection of pentax lenses. The pictures are excellent. The only complaint is the autofocus is slow. Otherwise is a great camera for the money.
Excerpt: I picked up a cheap nice used cam and have taken it out over the last few days. It made an interesting comparison after using my DSLR's and my recent 'ben hur' post about mirror less. Interface: Same as all other Pentax cams, so very easy and it is one of those things I enjoy about staying within the family. Handling: Not to bad, I grew up with SLR's, but I did find I missed few shots because my finger wasn't on the shutter button properly.
Summary: Honestly, I bought it on sale at a great price and it was a no-brainer as a backup to my K5. Since getting the camera, I find it a joy to use on a tripod, which a lot of my professional work is done on, and I'm actually considering buying another. I've generally liked the Pentax line of DSLRs very much, so it was no surprise to me that the image quality was so good and the menu system familiar.
