Summary: So good I now own two. Very sharp pictures and easy to use. Video is nice but acvhd mode required separate program on Mac to convert. I have been using Borosoft conversion software. You don't have to use acvhd as there is another mode for video. It may be that Imovie 11 will read acvhd so check. Anyway, i have gotten also some fairly good macro shots but it takes some playing around to get that right as focusing is sometimes hit or miss.

Summary: A friend has a Lumix and even though I use a Canon EOS, his photos could always match mine or best them. Most of the time having a small point and shoot is the easiest way to do your photography when having a large camera is cumbersome, not practical for having a camera with you all the time for spontaneous shots and puts your pricey equipment in situations for either equipment damage or theft.
Summary: Bought this camera to replace my Kodak EasyShare, which I was happy with except for "closeups". Being 60+, the "learning curve" was intimidating, but once I set aside time to actually read how to use it, it turned out to be very easy. I am very happy with this purchase. It will be the last camera I ever buy...does everything I need it to do. Maybe I'll tackle that iPhone thing next...
Summary: We bought this Lumix because a previous model had been lost/stolen. I was sad to lose my previous Lumix, but feel the incident ended up being a blessing in desguise because I LOVE this newer model! There are more pixels for added sharpness in the photos, increased user-friendliness in the multiple of settings (including a movie button all by itself), and the ability to zoom in and out during movie recording. GREAT PRODUCT!
Summary: This is a great all around camera. My old Canon Powershot was getting a little slow to respond and had no video capability. The low light results were poor at best, but I understand the limitations of the sensors on the smaller cameras. I bought a Nikon P100 last fall. It takes great low light shots and gives me a lot of flexibility to play with shutter speeds and aperature settings. Those things come with the price of a much larger camera body.
Summary: I previously ordered the Panasonic Lumix DMC FP1R which is a great camera, but you can't zoom in while taking a video.... hence I sent the camera back. This model is exactly what I was looking for in a camera (I had a Konica Minolta for years and was looking for an upgrade since a couple of months already), the zoom is great, you can zoom in an out while taking a video and the volume is adjustable which is great, the pictures are very clear and the colors are authentic,...
