  • Excerpt: first, the buying experience with B&H was simple, fast and they offered the best price around but most importantly they were very professional. as for the zs-40 I've only just started to play with it. out of the box it's very easy to use at least the basic features are which is all I've had time to experience. the pics are outstanding, clarity amazing. purchased this camera for an Alaskan vacation in august. i'll post a more complete review after that trip.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD

A Great Upgrade for me

Marco, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I upgraded my DMC-FX700 to this wonderful camera. Wanted Wi-FI and Raw. Also got Electronic Viewfinder which is great! I forgot how much I love to look through a viewfinder rather than the screen on back. Haven't played much with the ring around the lens that can focus or adjust exposure. raw images go right into Lightroom without issues. Uploaded images to Facebook but could not edit a description. Had to then go into FB on my phone and edit the post.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Has viewfinder, Nice Body Color, Shoots RAW, WIFI
  • Cons: Can't Edit Wifi Posts, Didn't Come W Batt Chrgr

  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Nice Body Color, Short Lag Time, Small / Compact

Great zoom on a point 'n shoot

  • Excerpt: This is my third Panasonic camera --the Leica lens is hard to beat. I hike and backpack so scenery and zoom are two features I look for. This camera does them both splendidly. It has a panoramic mode that automatically stitches shots together and gives you a composite so no post-software is necessary.
  • Pros: Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Poor Dial Markings, Slow To Turn Off

  • Excerpt: The camera does all that we hoped and more. It was an excellent purchase. Unfortunately the manual printed out at over 300 pages and the extra battery charger still has not shipped. A good deal, delivered on time and we are pleased with the product.

Great Travel Zoom

Cruiseman, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: This camera can do so many things so well it is hard to mention all of them. First, it shoots incredible stills. But video is where it really comes to life. the 60p video is crisp and colors are excellent. The 30x zoom will benefit from a tripod at max length, but up to 20x you can get good shots handheld. The new multi-function ring is a great addition. This is my third "ZS/TZ" camera and each one has been better than the previous. Good job Panasonic!

Melahaye

  • Excerpt: THis is the best camera yet. After over 45 years of photos with lots of exotic SLR's and long/zoom lenses I found this camera takes as good a picture with less fuss than anything I have used. I waited for this camera to be released so I could take it on my safari to Africa this past month. Of the 18 people in my group with a range of expensive SLR's with up up to 400mm lenses (15" long) to cheap point and shoot, everyone had camera envy for my Lumix ZS40.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Nice Body Color, Short Lag Time, Small / Compact

The best LUMIX yet

23 June 2014
  • Excerpt: Pros: The zoom, the multitude of automatic settings, the Leica lens, the size, the photo quality. I like the small view finder for shooting when you don't want the screen on. The level indicator is great. The shutter speed is extremely fast as is the amount of time from pushing the power button to the first shot; about 3 sec. Multiple video formats and modes are great.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast/accurate auto-focus, Good Image Quality, Good Image Stabilization, Great Zoom
  • Cons: Confusing Wi-fi Functions, Slow gps

Just Okay

Adorama
17 June 2014
  • Excerpt: Not what I was expecting. Lots of features. Great zoom. Soft focus. Takes shots when NOT in focus. Slow to focus. Pictures have a slight yellow tint. I thought this would be a good family vacation camera and a step up from my Leica D produced by Panasonic. Boy was I wrong. I wish the Leica had a stronger zoom then it would be great.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Great Zoom, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
  • Cons: Lag / Shutter Delay, Poor Image Quality
