Summary: I purchased a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS25. I only used the camera 4 - 5 times when the shutter would not close -- and I had used it very carefully and very gently. It was not dropped, etc. Since it was still under warranty, I was told that the manufacturer was responsible, not Smart Guard. I sent it to the Panasonic Factory as required. They told me that there was a dent in the lens -- which they were not responsible for. It would cost me $131.91 to replace the part.

Summary: I would have rated this camera 4 stars except for the fact that the sensor got dust spots within 2 months. I had purchased this to replace and older Panasonic Lumix which had acquired many dust spots over a two year period. The camera is light weight and does a great job in low light. It does not have a fill in mode but automatically blends multiple exposures to compensate for variable brightness. Nonetheless, you will end up with spots in your photos.
The camera takes great pictures under sunlight but when using the flash

Summary: I bought this camera after a long research. I was impressed with all the positive feedback and the amount of reviews. The camera takes great pictures under sunlight but when using the flash, the camera has a dark shadow in the bottom left corner. When I noticed this problem, I reset the camera and thought it was a defect of my device. Then I went to the Internet and found that this is a problem of this model. I decided to return my camera.
Summary: I ordered this camera because of the wonderful online reviews, but am VERY disappointed with the quality of the pictures! Pictures taken outside are pretty good, but I haven't had a single indoor picture...especially of people...turn out well. Faces are never clear and it doesn't matter if I take it up close, farther away, with the zoom, without the zoom, with a flash, or without a flash! I am returning it and resuming my search for a camera.
Retired pro photographer: Poor image quality. Returned it after one day of shooting.

Summary: My wife and I tested this camera for one day. We tested it thoroughly in various ambient lighting situations and with the flash. The zoom range is amazingly wide but the image quality is amazingly poor. We have a 2009 Canon 8 megapixel camera kicking around and after noticing the consistent softness in the Lumix images and the overly aggressive "smoothing" (that cannot be disabled), we compared images side by side with the old Canon A590IS.
