Summary: This is by far the best camera I've ever owned. The zoom, picture quality, ease of use and large LCD bright display are all fantastic. I use a 4G media card and have ALL pictures made with my Nikon, Casio and Olympus cameras stored. They can ALL be viewed with clarity on the large screen. I agree that the mic is in the wrong place but haven't had a problem with the volume of any video I've made.
Pros: Bright LCD, Comfortable Controls, Easy Setup, Easy to Keep Clean, Easy To Use, Great Picture Quality, Strong Construction
Summary: The wide angle to 10X zoom lens is terrific for framing exactly how you want to shoot. I've been using the Intelligent Auto setting with great results. The HD video recording option is a very nice addition and I purchased two 4 GB cards to give me extra video recording time for a planned 2 week Italy trip. I haven't tried the Wi-Fi transfer yet. Menu selections are clear to me.
Pros: Fast Shutter Speed, Good sized screen, Great Resolution, Nice Features and Settings
Summary: Ok, the camera is just great. Lens are fantastic (Leica), the zoom is amazing (10x optical) but I bought this camera because I would get 1 year T-mobile hotspots access... however I just could not connect. T-mobile said they didn´t have any knowledge about this promotion and about the camera! Now I'm back to Brazil and I could have saved almost [$] buying the TZ5 (the same camera without the wifi)!
Summary: Camera on regular usage is excellent and pictures are very clear. Wi-fi connection is another thing. At home or at the office it takes many tries to have it connect. I had it about a month, then it constantly asks me to turn the camera off and on again and it refuses to connect.I have different ISP's at home and office. Tried it at T-mobile hot spot too same problem.
Summary: It's hard to find fault with the TZ50 as a basic compact ultrazoom camera. The T50 offers all the performance and flexibility of the excellent TZ5, which is certainly why many consumers will find it so appealing. Sure, Panasonic could have made the TZ50 a much more useful photographic tool by including basic features like P/A/S/M modes, but the reality is that most point-and-shoot users won't miss these features.
Summary: This is an outstanding camera. Muuuuuuch better than previous Panasonic models. The picture quality is great and the camera is very easy to use. A few friends of mine have the Canon and Sony models but after they saw the DMC-TZ50S they were blown away.
I'm still trying to figure out the WiFi but I guess it would help if I read the manual...
Summary: I'm very satisfied with this camera. It's loaded with features.
While you will find on expert reviews that the manual control is poor, it's not that bad, in the manual mode you can even modify the shutter speed and the exposure (better than most ELPH Canon cameras, you will have to choose on a limited set of options for this though).
