Summary: I've had several examples of this camera and here are my thoughts. pros: great zoom capabilities decent LCD good anti shake easy controls cons: poor macro only has one place to fasten a shoulder strap so the camera dangles from the corner and the strap falls across the LCD when shooting in normal mode the pictures seem pale ok: the battery life is decent. It's a good camera but not a great camera.
Summary: The TZ5 is a handy little camera that is excellent for taking pictures. You can choose 4:3, 3:2, or 16:9 ratios. I use this for taking 16:9 pictures which I typically add to video productions. When taking videos, the 30 fps mode provides a good video picture. The drawbacks to me are: 1. The tiny microphone is located on the top of the unit, not the front.
Summary: Okay, this camera is a little dated now for the series and in the meantime a lot of point and shoots from Canon with more pix do even better, this screen is great for showing people what you took, it's metal frame makes it sturdy and more durable than the plastic stuff out there, tons of options and settings. The dial is great and there's a manual selection...
Summary: This is the best camera I'VE EVER OWN.. EVER.. I've had it for more than a yeear.... Pros: + Clear and smooths pictures taken + Battery's life is excellent. + Optical zoom is amazing. + Really portable + Good price Cons: - Video recording is not so good as photos. - A little bit heavy.
Summary: I did a great deal of research before purchasing this camera because I don't have the time or money that some people apparently have to be doing the eBay revolving door thing. What I came to realize is that, disappointingly, there isn't a clearly superior compact or ultracompact camera out there. There are only cameras with greater or lesser compromises and the trick is finding the one you can live with.
Summary: This camera is the photographic equivalent of an all terrain ski. It has traveled with me to ski, tour Europe, ziplining in the rain, and with the underwater housing, been diving. This versatility comes with a price, but overall Panasonic has done a fine job. In the bright sun, this camera is superb and good in low light. As with most cameras today, the chips have too many pixels.
Summary: I had always purchased canon cameras and I wanted to try something new. Overall, i am well pleased with my purchase, but here's a breakdown: pros: amazing zoom and widescreen array of settings, from airplane shots to night scenery great video quality, mic kinda sucks though cons: focus is a bit slower than i'm used to, not as good as the canons doesn't take good shots in tungsten lighting, but the flash settings are great. doesnt wash out people's faces.
Summary: My wishlist when buying a camera: size (must be small enough to tuck in a coat pocket or purse), optical zoom of 4x minimum, manual controls for shooting in unusual situations, 6Mpixel minimum, short video capable. This camera met all those except the manual control. However, it has a large number of operating modes including low light sensitivity, which worked very well when photographing my son's band concert, and various night scene modes.
