Confused...do you speak Japanese?

Summary: I wanted to buy my son a very light camera for his upcoming trip to Asia. I have always heard great things about the Lumix, and he got a smoking deal on it, so I told him to buy it and I would pay for it as a birthday present...this is it, the TZ-40. I tried to play with it, but I could not get anywhere as the instructions are not in English, nor is anything else. Luckily my son is very tech savvy and I think he may just figure this guy out.
Summary: I also bought a Kingston 32gb SDHC card to go in this camera but when I inserted it & turned it on, the screen said 'externally formatted disc not useable' & most of the camera functions did not work. I downloaded the 316 page (!) user manual to find out how to format the SD card & found on page 66 a section that said cards must be formatted by the camera before use but did not say how to do this !
Summary: I have owned TZ10 & TZ20 before. The TZ10 I still have as the picture quality is good in low light. The Tz20 lens jammed and thus I decided to buy this TZ40. I do a lot of shoots in concerts etc. where you generally only have stage lighting. The picture quality is not good. I guess when people rave about being good in low light, I assume they mean outside and in dull weather?? It can't handle concerts and being upto 10m away from any stage, thats for sure.
Summary: Bought this as a replacement for my lumix zx1 which was a incredible camera but after 5 years it developed a fault so had buy new one. The tZ40 started well really like the wifi mode so I can transfer photos to my iPhone/iPad instantly but had nothing but trouble with photo quality pictures either come out dark grainy even with flash or without flash blurry. May have to consider a new camera soon.
IT ARRIVED - BUT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE EARLIER LUMIX TZ7

Summary: I am sure it will perform well but what disappointed me was that it is not compatible with the earlier Panasonic Lumix TZ7 purchased only a short time ago. Considering they came from the same stable I assumed the battery pack and connecting leads would be interchangeable - Sadly they are not - No doubt good marketing from Panasonic but more expensive for the consumer who has stuck with the brand.
