Excerpt: Photos are not very sharp because of the jpg-compression is too high. Pictures come as 180 dpi instead of 300 dpi. They chould look better if the compression is not so high. Maybe an upgrade could solve the problem. New firmware ???
Excerpt: My primary camera is the Canon DX but it's pretty hard to haul that thing around every day. I bought the Lumix because I had heard it had a great zoom (tripod needed) but it also took great shots that could be downloaded to a smartphone and it had a respectable 5 to 10 FPS in burst mode. Not to mention a GPS tag which is very cool. So, I got comfortable with the features and this thing takes some great shots and you can put it in your shirt pocket.
Takes fairly good photos but WiFi is confusing at best..

Summary: I bought this camera for its built in WiFi but I am greatly disappointed. I have been an Eye-Fi user for some time and thought this camera would make automatic uploads easier. I couldn't have been more wrong. There are confusing set up menus and instead of storing a WiFi setting once for each SSID you have to enter it each time for any of the types of upload functions it allows.
Summary: I've been taking pictures for years and have thousands of dollars tied up in Nikon DSLRs. The problem with those cameras is obvious: you just can't put them in your pocket and easily carry them around. So, I needed a little camera that would give me decent pictures and I found it in the ZS30. Now a lot of people have talked about the quality of the pictures, the settings to use, and etc.
Summary: I wanted to buy my son a very light camera for his upcoming trip to Asia. I have always heard great things about the Lumix, and he got a smoking deal on it, so I told him to buy it and I would pay for it as a birthday present...this is it, the TZ-40. I tried to play with it, but I could not get anywhere as the instructions are not in English, nor is anything else. Luckily my son is very tech savvy and I think he may just figure this guy out.
Summary: I purchased this camera as an upgrade from the Lumix zs5 I previously owned because I was mostly happy with the ZS5. The first ZS30 I purchased had 2 problems, it left vertical white lines on the panoramic photos, and while taking a video if you used the zoom feature the camera would loose focus briefly while zooming. After contacting the manufacturer I returned the camera for a replacement. I have used it for the past 2 weeks for mostly outdoor photos.
