Summary: Pro: camera looks great on paper Con: defective out of the box I purchased this product after doing extensive research on the best point and shoot in this price range. The Lumix was far and away the best. Very excited, I took it on vacation to play around with it. Unfortunately, out of the box it didn't work. The exposure was set way too high; every picture taken outside was ridiculously overexposed. I took pictures at dusk that look like they were taken at noon.
Summary: I purchased this as a replacement/upgrade for a DMC ZS1. Unfortunately the TZ40 has too many extra features that "click in" because the Touch Screen can't be disabled. This means that many shots get ruined. The wider angle and longer telephoto are great when the camera works properly, It also has a press button "on/off" instead of a slide which makes it all too easy to switch it back on when putting in the ER case.
Summary: One of the worst cameras I have ever used. Images are compressed to the extent that there is no discernible difference between 5 and 18 megapixel images so paying for the extra is a complete waste. The user interface is truely one of the most obscure, complicated, and inconsistent examples I have ever seen and the wifi feature suffers from a combination of reliability problems and a user interface that is so badly thought out it is hard to believe that Panasonic ever put...
Summary: Piense comprar esto pero en una semana el precio ha cambiado tanto, ha subido tanto, ahora es mucho mas (era in mi lista de deseos especificamente a un precio conocido)entonces no voy comprarlo. It was listed at a specific very reasonable price and I put it in my wish list.
