Lumix Zs7 is best for day use

Wickerlady, Viewpoints
9 September 2012
  • Excerpt: We bought this camera 6 months back after our old camera became so outdated as to embarrass us to pull it out in public! We wanted an easy-to-carry travel camera with good auto-settings, while at the same time better than just good quality pictures. We picked this over canon 1300 IS because of its superior optical zoom and wide angle lens. So far, no regrets on the daytime and close-up snaps- this camera takes professional-quality photos.

DMC-ZS7 & DMC-ZS10 Great Picture and Video Poor GPS

Peter P. Strawn "Peter", Amazon
11 April 2012
  • Summary: The Panasonic DMC-ZS7 and DMC-ZS10 both take excellent still and video photos. Their picture quality is the best I've experience in a point-n-shoot camera. However, the GPS functionality is quite frankly poor. In testing the accuracy ranged from 15 to 185 yards, significantly worse than the 3-5 yards experienced with the Casio EX-H20G, Sony DSC-HX7V, or Nikon P6000.

User Review

symonh2000, DP Review
17 May 2011
  • Excerpt: This camera is a good all rounder. Good points. Very versatile GPS useful Excellent images in good light Lens excellent with sharp images and little distortion. Still small enough to fit in your pocket. Bad points Not great in low light Noisy above 400 ISO Battery life not great even with GPS off. I bought this as a backup to my DSLR, obviously images are not as good as on that, but for a compact in good light they are excellent.

"Panasonic ZS7 About As Advertised"

blxmckay, CNET
8 January 2011
  • Pros: zoom, gps, text ID of pictures; if you take time to learn about the camera s quirks and take care you should like it
  • Cons: lack of viewfinder, need to do all sorts of odd things to see lcd in sunny weather even with lighted option turned on ; pix can be noisy without care; strange setup of options; very frustrating in some situations; Panasonic not much help with support

Poor indoor picture qulity

Victor Gavrilenko, Amazon
11 December 2010
  • Summary: I owned this camera for about a month and still own its predecessor ZS3 for a year+. This camera takes amazing outdoor pictures when there is enough light. Indoor pictures are not as sharp and color balance is not always right. It is almost impossible to take a nice indoor picture of a group of people with flash or not. This is the main reason I will be returning this camera.

Very nice camera but beware image quality

Steven Brys "Koala Lover!", Amazon
27 November 2010
  • Summary: I own way too many cameras as I love to try them out to see if a particular one is "it" - the perfect small camera. There are a lot of nice things about the ZS7. Like many have mentioned, it sports a terrific range in a small form factor (25-300mm). It offers complete manual, automatic, or anywhere in between shooting options.

Low Light photos are poor, Proprietary cables - std USB would have been helpful

D. K. Billet "dkbillet", Amazon
26 September 2010
  • Summary: The camera is beautiful and feels well made. I was so hopeful. Stereo mic, GPS, fast burst! I have had it a week. Am replacing my Canon SD870 (in waterproof housing-awesome) that went into the Pacific Ocean near Tonga (have you seen it?) I am really fussy about proprietary nonsense put in technology by the manufacturers. I went to offload my pics and Voila! I need a cable with an unrecognized appearance.

Lots To Love, Great Videos, A Few Reservations

Ellen Ripley, Amazon
2 August 2010
  • Summary: I've had this camera just about a week and will write a full review when I know how this camera works a little better. I also bought a Canon SD940is. Although I never owned a Canon it was immediately intuitive without any user's manual. I was shooting and taking videos in 10 minutes. This camera, the ZS7 has lots more features, but it lacks the very cool MY COLORS feature of the latest Powershots.

Worst indoor and low light performance for an expensive camera

Ashok Krishnamoorthy "Ashok all over the US", Amazon
28 July 2010
  • Summary: This camera is absolutely wonderful if you are using it outdoors with plenty of light. On the other hand it is atrocious indoors and in low light conditions. When I mean atrocious you can't take even decent looking pictures indoors even during daytime with plenty of light. Why would somebody buy a camera that takes only good outdoor pictures when 50% of your pictures will typically be indoors? All the other features of this camera are good.
