Summary: I use it for family vacations, architecture, grand kid shots, sports, wildlife. The kit lens (14-140) is amazingly competent, but I also have some fine old Canon FD lenses I use with a converter. The video is a special treat for family events. Unqualified recommendation.
Summary: I bought my camera without the hack, but immediately hacked it. This camera simply produces amazing video quality for the price. If you can get the 14mm-140mm lense for a decent price, this is a real score for anyone who wants to produce professional quality video.
Summary: I can't give this camera enough love. just buy it, get into it, learn it grow with it, know it entirely, witness the unknown power. Then team it up with it's big brother the GH2. Autobot's transform.
Summary: I recently bought a used one. I rate the value for money as only average based on the new price. It is an excellent camera with many features. One of the neatest is that when you use the EVF (Electronic View Finder)the LCD automatically turns off. The EVF is almost like using the optical view finder of a DSLR.
Summary: I got this for my then boyfriend for Christmas last year. He borrowed his friend's camera (the exact same one) for our trip to Japan and it seemed like he really enjoyed playing with it and his effort to taking good pictures seem to make him happy, so I got this for him. I don't know if he still has it or uses it, but when we were in Japan we got some really great pictures with it.
Summary: Before I get into the title of my review, let me give a little background. Before I got into the "wife and kids" phase of my life, I was heavily into 35 mm photography. My current 35mm system is a Nikon 8008 with a full complement of lens that I rarely get out due to its bulk and weight.
Summary: I recently reviewed the E-P1 a couple months ago stating it would be my last camera. Well, I lied. I started getting into video more, so I wanted a camera with full manual control and 24P at an affordable price. That narrowed it down to a 7D, T2i, or GH1. I chose the GH1 mainly due to lens compatability and size. My feelings towards the camera were a bit cold at first.
Summary: I ordered this particular camera for the new micro four thirds format and also thanks to many reviews citing Lumix as the the industry standard in this new format. This is a lovely camera, especially for its performance in low light situations. I am finding it less compact than I had hoped, not that much smaller than a standard DSLR. However, even a small size difference helps when travelling, and I really enjoyed shooting with this camera on my recent trip to Italy.
