Summary: I bought this camera for convenience as it would be easier to carry than my Nikon D300. I know that they aren't even on the same playing field and determined that I want to get back to a higher end camera. Unfortunately, this camera doesn't hold the value like a Nikon does and getting a quality lens is very expensive. If you want a compact camera, buy the best you can buy for the money and if you want a quality picture with a camera that retains value, buy a Nikon.

Summary: All in all this is a reasonably good camera, and the average shooter looking for something to take on vacation that's compact but fairly powerful won't be disappointed. However, it is lacking in two key areas. First, the touch screen is a little clunky - though it is nice for its ability to click on an image and simultaneously focus on that object and take the picture.
Good camera but with poor handling and cheaper lens system.

Summary: Controls: The new touch screen is not like the smooth glass of an iPhone, just a plastic, resistive panel that feels hollow when tapped. I could live with it, but my left hand fingers keep getting in the way and end up changing the focus point. Also, if you are changing a setting with the buttons, try not to touch the screen. I need to investigate if the touch can be disabled.
Summary: I think I was expecting more given the lenses are Leica It is a bit inbetween, too big to be a compact but not a proper dslr . The screen isn't really good enough for framing and composition. I guess it all depends what you are used to and what you want but botgh lenses are on the short side 42mm even in a crop factor is a bit limiting for general purpose walk around shooting I sent it back and will keep looking for something - might try the Olympus
Excerpt: "The Panasonic GF2 is being billed as the smallest, lightest interchangeable lens system camera and has only recently been released. This camera comes under the umbrella of a micro four thirds camera - that is to say it's not a compact, bridge or SLR. It has interchangeable lenses like an SLR, but they are a different mount and the sensor onto which the image is recorded is smaller than an SLR but far bigger than a compact. Quick specification ...
Pros: high image and movie quality, quite small
Cons: touch screen is a pain, not intuitive, very expensive, limited available accessories
lenes feels cheap and was dissapointed in low light.

Summary: After a week and only a dozen images I found the the "performance or quality not being adequate". Even at 400 ISO the pictures were not great. The build of the body is good, but the lenses feel cheap and noise on the images was a lot more that I expected. I know that my LUX-3 shows noise after 400 ISO but I expected the GF2 to be a lot better than it is. I use a D300 which is 3 1/2 years old and was hoping that technology would have moved on and made the GF2 better.
