Summary: Good Buy if you can buy it for a cheaper price This particular camera ( Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 12.1MP Micro Four Thirds) is some what expensive for a old model camera . Excerpt: there is a big difference between the original cam witout firmware 1.4 and with it. I've got 2 items one with old program and one newer with firmware 1.4. the quality difference will be enormous: cam with firmware 1.4 much more sharper ++phantastic big viewfinder ++the better kit lens 14-45 is still...
Summary: need this cam for macros and tele shootings because of its small sensor ship. very suitable for shooting with flash in darkness, because of the excellent viewfinder.ideal for astro shootings too. alle pictures must be improved by photoshop for big posters afterwards.
Pros: sharp results when using RAW+JPEG with 100 ISO
Cons: a few noisy pictures when choosing 800 ISO or higher, a few low contrast, dued to the small sensor chip
Excerpt: I purchased this camera at Heathrow airport in June 2009 and have never regretted it. Having dithered for several years over stepping into the DSLR owner's world, I couldn't quite take the leap. It was a size thing. Then Panasonic changed the game !
Excerpt: Bought this camera used in great condition. This is a great camera if you dig photography. For me the fact that there is no video doesn't matter. If you want to do video then buy a video camera. When it comes to noise reduction... the world is going a bit crazy and ridiculous about it.
Superb combo, excellent image quality and features

Summary: Even though this camera is several years old, it is still a fine system. While looking at some later models, I ran across a good deal on a G1 and, after investigating further, found it had a lot of appeal. The excellent EVF, great kit lens, and overall image quality sold me.
