Leica lens, good electronics

James S., Newegg
17 July 2008
  • Summary: I worked as a photo re-toucher for a digital studio lab for 10 years. I've seen evolution of the digital camera and this is the one I own. Leica is one if the most respected names in photo equipment, and their lenses are professional grade.
  • Pros: Leica lens. I'll repeat that, it has a Leica lens which makes all of the difference and is German designed. German glass is still the best in the world. If you are in this price range this is the camera to own. It is fantastic and the pictures are incredible. On our honeymoon many people used our...

Panasonic Lumic DMC-FZ8

John in Oro Valley, Amazon
18 May 2008
  • Summary: Probably the best online buy I've ever made. The camera does everything I'd ever want in a non-dslr camera and then some. Yes, there is some noise in low-light situations but, with a price under $250 including a 2 gig memory chip and a 35mm lens equivalent of 36mm-432mm, along with image...

Awesome camera!

Anonymous, Newegg
18 April 2008
  • Summary: I recommend keeping the manual close by for the first week or so. I'd also recommend at LEAST a 4gb SDHC card with it if you are going to do any sort of video because at 640x480 and 30fps(while the video looks absolutely amazing) it gets 10 minutes per GB.
  • Pros: It's hard to know where to begin but this camera is simply awesome! It was between this and the S5 and I think I made the better choice. This camera is light, smaller than you think and takes awesome shots! Start with a full charge because you'll kill the battery in about the time it takes you to...
  • Cons: Starting to get memory card errors but I haven't determined if it's the card or not. I tend to take and erase pictures often and I don't think the camera likes when the card gets fragmented.

The perfect travel camera Panasonic DMC-FZ8K

Bruce L. Gillette "Bruce Lee", Amazon
27 March 2008
  • Summary: My first impression of the Panasonic DMC-FZ8K was it is a small camera. After playing around with some of the features I was impressed with this camera. The FZ-8K takes fantastic pictures that are truly very sharp. What I'm most surprised with is the feature for close ups or macro.

great product

Anonymous, Newegg
21 March 2008
  • Summary: The exposure is a problem for people who do not like to take pictures with flash, which is me. However, there are simple work-arounds and I still love the camera. I gave it a 5, but it's really an 8.5-9.
  • Pros: Great camera, great battery life. Takes pictures fast and well.
  • Cons: The cable USB transfer is a little slow, but I have a card reader so its not an issue. This camera does have exposure time problems(ISO over 100).

Value, Value, Value

Brandon S., Newegg
18 March 2008
  • Summary: I upgraded from a simple point and shoot Fuji Finepix A340 to this camera and man....I originally wanted a DSLR but I can tell you just after a week of having this thing I am not dissapointed at all. A lot of features that work well and take good clear photos for the price.
  • Pros: Awesome tele macro pics, sweet optical zoom, nice fully auto features that can all be manipualted in the manual mode. Nice and light, and more compact than a lot of the other DSLR-like selections on the market.
  • Cons: No hot shoe :(

baby camera

Dr. Glenn "RidgeJumper", Amazon
15 March 2008
  • Summary: I use a Sony A700 with "G" class professional lenses and use the Panasonic LX1 for quick shots. I gave this to my girlfriend in Tallinn to take pictures as she is not one for manuals and technical details but has a good "eye" for pictures.

Excellent camera, gets an A+ from me

Joshua K., Newegg
11 March 2008
  • Summary: Basically, this camera is really awesome.
  • Pros: This camera is very easy to use, has more features than you'll ever imagine using, takes AMAZING pictures, and has excellent zoom abilities.
  • Cons: The viewfinder can't be used at the same time as the LCD screen, but that's not a huge deal. It uses a rechargable battery pack, which makes running out of power while you're out and about somewhat of a problem if you don't have a spare battery. However, the battery pack does hold enough charge t...

  • Pros: I loved this camera as soon as I held it in my hands for the first picture. After owning five other digital cameras, I think this is my favorite. The pictures are excellent, and it is extremely easy to operate. Give this one five stars.
