Summary: I had high expectations for this camera. We also reviewed the Nikon P520 which only offers a 42x zoom. The Panasonic has a 60x but when compared the subject matter really did not seem that much closer and by far not as sharp as the Nikon. Images were as other reviews, washed out colors and lacking detail. We take photos of birds of prey and with the Nikon noticed detailed feathers at full zoom but with the Panasonic those details were lacking.
Pros: price quality built good wide angle
Cons: lacks sharpness at longer zoom range no details and washed out colors bulky
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70K 16.1MP Black Digital Camera
1 February 2014
Summary: flexibility...creativity...this camera has it all; only drawback is that it is heavier than previous models but then again it has more funtionality than previous models...once again Panasonic has a winner!
Summary: I purchased this camera after doing lots of research online. I have a DSLR with a 300mm zoom lens and I found on some cases, I needed more magnification. The first day they I took the camera out was amazing. I took photos of 3 different varieties of hawks, lots of songbirds and a few deer. The quality of the photos was amazing. The viewfinder when adjusted properly is very clear.
Summary: I was looking for an upgrade to my many years old Panasonic Lumix. The specs made this camera look fantastic. An ultra-wide lens with a telephoto range of 1200mm. In actual use, the camera didn't perform as expected. Pictures at the wide angel setting were great. Excellent. But as you used the zoom to get "close" to a subject, the picture washed out. Colors were not as vibrant and seemed over exposed. Adjusting the light settings only made it seem dark and flat.
Pros: takes excellent wide angle photos. night pictures like of a starry sky come out well the zoom lens has an incredible range. lots of automatic settings with manual controls
Cons: picture quality was not as good as expected. the body is larger than a canon sl1 an slr
