The Panasonic FZ50 is a fantastic 10 mega pixel camera!

Excerpt: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 has a great 12X optical zoom which can manually be adjusted. This makes it easy to frame your shoot just the way you want without pushing a button or lever back and forth. It can also be manually focused. This makes it easy to fine tune your focus on just what you want.
Excerpt: Whether you are beginner or a professional photographer, this camera will work for anyone!! It takes the best pictures I have ever taken before!! And I just put it on the automatic function. If you are an expert on photography, it will meet or beat your expectations. AWESOME!!! Worth every penny!! I would recommend this camera to anyone who wants professional looking pictures every-time! I love it.
Excerpt: This is my first 'high end' digital camera...and I love it. It is really easy to use and it takes outstanding photos. Like most techy gear, it gets easier to use the more time you spend experimenting with it, which I did. I do recommend reading the instruction manuel, but if you are familiar with higher end cameras and/or technical photography stuff, you will have no problems using this camera.
Top rated camera when it first came out; still a great buy.

Summary: Great travel camera, does lovely close-ups as well as panorama shots; good in low light but- the only negative - noisy for really low light. Digital viewfinder not useful in night photography or very low light. Otherwise excellent quality with supersharp lens. I have used one for several years and love it. No other superzoom of this generation offers better features or lens quality; you cannot beat the Leica lens.
Easy to use! Great features! Excellent picture quality!

Summary: As a owner of 2 film SLR cameras I wanted to try a good quality point and shoot camera. After many hours of research I settled on the Panasonic FZ50. I must admit I have only owned this camera for a couple of days but so far I love it. It has many features found only on more expensive cameras. Panasonic and Leica what more could you ask for.
Excerpt: Just gave my FZ20 to my veterinarian daughter, and began using a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ50. The lens no longer retains f/2.8 throughout the range as in the FZ20, but now all movements are internal, making it more compact and less vulnerable. It has a great zoom lens for nature photography, including macro down to 5 cm for intriguing insect photographs, all without several costly lenses. It becomes necessary to remove the lens hood for close-ups, though.
A most excellent camera capable of most anything... Have two of them...

Summary: If you have been using a small digital camera, or less than you would like, these cameras compare to the entry to mid level of many professional cameras... Easy to use, great zoom, has so many features that I have yet to learn how to use them all... Yet everytime I do it enhances my experence with these cameras... This is the third on I bought, this one is to replace the one I gave away as a gift... For the money do not think you can spend your money more wisely...
