Summary: The Lumix DMC series of camera gives you all the features and quality of more expensive cameras. I have purchased 4 of this type of cameras. One for each of my two children and one for myself. The oldest one had a flash problem and I replaced it with the LUMIX DMC-FZ18K.
Excerpt: I bought the Panasonic FZ18, it truly has an amazing lens. I got excellent shots at 18x zoom w/auto settings. Also the face detection is a nice feature! I am very enthousiastic about this digital camera!
Summary: I bought this camera off of ebay as a used camera, but I swear it was like it had never been used, perfect condition! Takes great pics and movies. I recently upgraded to a FZ28 so I sold my FZ18, but only because I could not afford to keep both cameras and I really like the high def video of the...
Summary: A friend was enthusiastic about the same model camera he had purchased. After researching digital cameras, we chose this model. It has excellent features and is fairly easy to operate as well as being light-weight. I also desired to have a unit that "looked" and felt like a camera.
Summary: Panasonic's partnership with Leica has created some real gems for photographers who want fast and fun cameras. The latest in their megazoom FZ line is this - the FZ 18, so called because of a 28mm-504mm 18x zoom. Those optics are the first of three great things about this camera.
Summary: The image stabilization is JUST adequate for 18X shots, but only if you make an effort to hold the camera steady. And, due to the small chip size, the dynamic range is somewhat limited and noise is apparent on most shots using ISO above 200.
Summary: I've had this camera about 3 weeks. This is my third digital camera - supplementing a Pentax Optio S4i. I researched this class of camera (more versatility and better quality than a sub-compact, but not as expensive as a DSLR) for a couple of months.
Summary: I also own a Nikon digital SLR. I bought this camera to take on a hunt in Alaska. I was concerned about the bulk and weight of my SLR, lenses, etc. What first caught my eye about this Panasonic was the 18x capability, which gives you 28mm to 504mm (in 35mm equivalent) in a small and light package.
Summary: I love the camera because it has 18 optical zoom and because it's a very versatile camera. The Panasonic has all of the features of a bigger more expensive camera but it has a smaller price tag and it weighs considerably less so i can carry it whereever i go.
