Conclusion: With ultracompact cameras, performance and optical compromises are inevitable. Still, we expected more from the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX7. It's a beautiful camera packed with features, but it lacks the speed and image quality necessary to make it our top choice.
Pros: Beautifully crafted. Image stabilization feature is unique in such a small camera. Large 2.5-inch LCD.
Cons: Images were noisy and unremarkable. Too much shutter lag if you don't prefocus.
Conclusion: As with the recently reviewed Canon PowerShot SD300 (IXUS 40i) the DMC-FX7 is the perfect pocket camera as long as you don't expect miracles and are prepared to accept a certain amount of compromise on features and image quality. It is a tribute to Panasonic's designers that they managed to squeeze as much as they did into the FX7's diminutive body, and there's no denying it is the kind of camera that simply begs to be taken everywhere you go.
Pros: High resolution, clean images, Subtle, detailed images, Good noise control at ISO 80-200, High quality construction, lovely design, Good edge-to-edge sharpness, Excellent white balance, Feels fast and responsive, Big, bright screen, Reliable exposure and focus, Image stabilization, Excellent on-screen menus and control system, Easy to use
Cons: Battery life, Some blown highlights, Occasional mild color casts when shooting in very bright light, Some focus problems in low light, Size and design makes camera shake more likely, Easy to accidentally press buttons you don't mean to
Excerpt: While it may
look like just another compact metal camera, the Panasonic
Lumix DMC-FX7 ($499) has an exciting feature
hidden from view. That feature is an optical image
stabilizer, just like their big ultra zoom cameras.
If you're like me, you've probably taken your share
of blurry indoor shots. While the stabilizer can't
eliminate this problem, it will let you take sharp
photos at shutter speeds that would be unusable on
Pros: Very good photo quality, Compact, stylish metal body; available in two colors, Image stabilization system, Huge LCD display (but see negatives below), AF-assist lamp, Robust performance, especially with a high speed SD card, Good continuous shooting mode, Histograms in record and playback mode
Cons: Redeye, No optical viewfinder, LCD resolution isn't great; screen can be hard to see in low light, Flimsy plastic door over battery/memory card slot, A VGA movie mode would've been nice, Below average battery life, Small memory card included
Summary: The Panasonic DMC-FX7 5-megapixel Lumix digital camera packs a wealth of advanced technology and easy-to-use features in a sleek, compact package. It's the first compact digital camera to feature both an Optical Image Stabilizer, and 2.5" LCD. Incorporating a high-performance Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens, the DMC-FX7 combines the ease and convenience of digital utility with the expressiveness of film photography.
Pros: Nice, clean high-resolution images combine with fair noise suppression and responsiveness. Exposure is good as is white balance and the image stabilization is excellent to say nothing of the large 2.5-inch screen and great styling.
Cons: Low battery life marred an otherwise accomplished bit of kit, highlights in contrasty shots become blown quickly and there’s few focus issues in low light. My one other gripe is the menu system that requires the double selection of any settings.
Summary: Panasonic's DMC-FX7 is small enough to take anywhere in a pocket or purse. Its mode dial, which is partly enclosed in the camera's body, has six settings: normal picture mode, simple mode, macro mode, scene mode (with nine pre-sets), motion image mode (QVGA movies at 10 or 30fps) and playback. The simple mode sets all controls to auto and provides three picture settings: enlarge (for A4 prints), 10 x 15cm, and email. . .
Pros: Leica lens., Large 2.5-inch LCD monitor., Four display options - including live histogram., Mega OIS stabilisation minimises blurring from camera shake.
Cons: No viewfinder., Small control buttons and mode dial. [BG05]

Summary: A Panasonic nem szereti a trendeket.
