Summary: This is absolutely the best camera I have ever bought. It takes great pictures. It takes great video. The special effect presets are awesome and work with video, which few point and shoots do. It is as rugged as it is made out to be and then some. It survived a white water canoeing accident. It made it through dust storms in a high sierra desert (Burning Man). It bounced off a hard wood floor from a 10' drop. I can not be more happy with it.
Summary: This camera is awesome! Have had it for a year this Christmas. Has been down to 20feet while snorkeling and had no problems with fogging or water leakage! My wife breaks everything and has yet to break this thing! Been to Jamaica, Grand Turk, and Nassau and is still going strong! Would give more stars if possible!
Summary: I am a whitewater kayaker and was looking for a quality waterproof camera that actually took good photos. This is it. I love the picture quality. The pictures my buddies take with the Olympus or the Pentax don't compare to the Lumix. The colors are bright and clear. The camera has built in image stabilization which help a lot when trying to shoot from my boat. I love the rapid fire option on this camera as well as the ability to shoot high definition video.
Summary: I bought this camera for a trip to Kauai. I also ordered an 8 GB memory card, extra battery, and a floating wriststrap. It all arrived quickly and I took a few pictures before the trip just to make sure everything worked fine, which it did. The 2nd day in Kauai we went on a snorkling tour and the camera worked perfectly. I only took it down to about 12 or 15 feet, but I had no trouble.
Summary: Like everyone else, I was looking for a rugged camera to take underwater/beach or on that ski trip where I would not worry about the camera. I did my research and like many have said it came down to the Panasonic and Canon and I chose the Panasonic because it was more portable and also because I currently love recording video of the family in HD using my sony camcorder that uses AVCHD which this Pansonic does too.
Summary: All seems fine with this new camera. We got it for our 12-year-old son who's active and an avid photographer. The ruggedness of this camera and good reviews led us to purchase it and so far no regrets whatsoever. No problems in the first month of fairly active use. No complaints and he seems quite happy with the camera. I did not rate all 5's just because we haven't had the camera long enough to be sure. But, it seems to be quite reliable, versatile, and easy to use.
Summary: I just got back from taking this little camera to the great barrier reef in Cairns, Australia, and I was impressed! No water made it into the battery/memory area, and it functionaed flawlessly underwater. When it comes to taking pictures underwater, I want the least fuss possible. And this camera, when used in the iA mode, took excellent pictures. Even when zoomed in fully (which is still a measly 3x due to the non-telescoping lense) took stable, clean pictures in 14 MP.
Summary: I bought this camera for our trip to maui..we went snorkling, road to hana, luau, molokini, turtle town...beaches you name it...I really am happy with this camera ..it took awesome underwater pictures...it did fog up when we were on the road to hana..it was raining hard and very humid..i put the camera up the heater vent and it dried up right away.. another thing that happened was we went to 2 snorkeling spots.
Summary: Originally purchased the TS1 to use when we were in the Galapagos. I was totally sold on the camera. The battery would last all day, even with lots of video. It charged quickly to use again and again. Now we are getting ready to go to the Great Barrier Reef and misplaced or lost the TS1 while we were home. I was heartbroken until I decided life was to short to "settle on another camera". Granted approximately $300 isn't a lot, but it definitely made me think twice.
