Pretty Useless Camera
6 October 2011
Summary: Initially it was a great camera for outdoors adventures until water seeped in somehow. I always take care of my electronics and always cleaned it after any water use. I sent to warranty repair center. They sent me another camera. That one has really bad hissing sound when recording videos. I must say I cannot trust Panasonic brand anymore.
Summary: I loved this camera. It was great looking, easy to use, and took really fun pictures in the water. I dropped it a couple of times onto concrete from 3-4 feet, with no obvious effect, and dropped it to the bottom of the pool without a problem. However, it just stopped working one day (the battery and contacts are fine, but it won't power up), and now it's going in the trash, as Panasonic charges about $200 to repair it.
Summary: On August 27 2010, I bought a Lumix DMC-TS2 14.1 MP camera on Amazon.com. At the very first time when I used it underwater and the day after, in spite of all appropriate care, it presented the lens visor smoked and stopped working . I live in Rio, Brazil. At the local Panasonic technical support they told me that it would be too expensive to fix the camera here. I need to send it to the USA for repairing.
Summary: I recently made the jump from Canon to panasonic. Read all the reviews and thought this would be a great waterproof camera to have. The picture quality is comparable so long as you are outside during the day. Anything with low light( inside, night time, sunset) has poor photo quality. It served its purpose as a waterproof camera until 3 months into using it, it leaked and filled with water. I promise, no sand was in it and the seals were well closed.
Summary: Extremely disappointed with this camera. I really thought Panasonic would do a better job designing and building a product with these features. Camera is large and heavy and picture quality isn't very good, which is what I expected, but I bought it since it was supposedly waterproof. Well, it isn't. First trip with this camera, second day on the pool and it stopped working. I did absolutely everything the manual instructed but water got inside anyways.
Summary: I bought this camera before a vacation trip to the Caribbean sea at Colombia. I'll ready had a good camera but I was looking for a waterproof good one. When I received it, I tried it in a swimming pool and it worked ok. And since the pictures outside the water were also good quality, I just travelled with my brand new waterproof Panasonic camera. But I was very disappointed after the first time I introduced into the water.
Summary: I purchased this camera for a trip to Australia which included a lot of snorkeling. The FIRST time I took it in the water the camera died. I never took the camera more than 10 feet underwater, well above the 10 meter/33 foot threshold. Suffice to say it was pretty frustrating to have my camera out of commission three days into a month long vacation. When I got back to the US I contacted Panasonic and they sent me another camera, same make and model.
Summary: I had read some negative reviews before my purchase, but was swayed to buy this particular product based on its video features as I had trips to the Galapagos and to raft the Grand Canyon planned for this year. I had even read a review that said that on the first day of their Galapagos trip the camera failed when introduced to water. Oh, no. I wanted to get familiar with the product before the trips, so purchase 2 months ahead of time.
This is NOT a waterproof camera - AT ALL. NOT MATTER WHAT
14 March 2011
Summary: I bought this camera knowing that other customers had problems with the seals. I was hopefully that if I was extra, extra careful I wouldn't have any problems. NOT! I used the camera underwater 4 times on our trip to Kauai. We went snorkeling - not deep diving. The camera did fine. Easy to use. Took great pics. I checked the seals after every trip. Soaked the camera in freshwater after every trip. Followed all the required steps, after every trip.
Summary: If you are in the market for a water proof camera then please make sure you do your research and know the risks you take buying this product! This is my second waterproof camera, and after my first one failed on a vacaction, I became super cautious with this one. I took this camera on a snow trip to Switzerland recently and had no problems with it. Was impressed by its video quality, though it did lack in the auto focus department, constantly changing focus.
