Summary: Great hand-held size, super cute, easy to use, shoots fast, and easy to get to know. Most of the pictures have turned out great, with good true color, however, some images have turned out slightly off - not super sharp and crisp. I'm still playing around with learning the features, so am hoping to figure out how to ameliorate this. For the most part I'm happy with it since it wasn't expensive and it's easy to pull out of a pocket and take a picture.
Summary: Within the past few months I purchased 3 compact cameras in the 12+ megapixel range with 5X zoom or more. They were this Lumix, because I love my old FX30, Sony WSC-370 be cause I love my a10 DSLR, and Nikon S70, because I love my P80. Wanted to see who has the best compact when it wasn't appropriate to lug around the above named larger models. At first, I though this was clearly the worst. First couple of tries the pictures were unremarkable, which surprised me.
Summary: So far I have really liked this camera. I will saw that the camera lens is in a weird spot and I have found many pictures with my finger in it. It may take me a while to change how I hold the camera. Also, switching from picture to video is a few extra steps more than I like. My other cameras I could toggle a switch to change from camera to video. On this camera I have to go into a menu to switch that over. It is not a major deal.
Summary: I like this little camera. The only problem I have is not having a separate view finder. I have to remember to keep my finger out of the way of the lens. I am used to viewfinders, not just looking at screens. Overall, in the past year I have taken some good shots and am still learning to take better ones.
Great small camera for the price, don't zoom though

Summary: This is a fabulous little camera. It does not have any lense that has to retract when it turns on so it turns on fast, focuses fast, and takes fabulous pictures. I actually put it in my rc airplane and takes pictures from the sky with it. It always takes perfectly clear pictures when doing this. My only complaint is that when I zoom in (not used in my airplane) in any normal use like in the house, kids playing outside, etc - the picture gets grainy.
Summary: I bought this camera to replace a very old Kodak. I picked the Lumix FP8 because of it's speed. I wanted a camera that would take consecutive pictures without much hesitation. I used it last weekend at a wedding for the first time; and the pictures turned out pretty good. I have a love/hate relationship with the size; it's great because it fits easily in about any pocket, but it is so small I feel a bit clumsy operating the controls.
