Summary: This camera takes good pics and video HOWEVER it is very flimsy. I bought this for my daughter and she dropped it the same day we got it and it is shot. Also, I merely touched the lens (the camera was giving a system error zoom message) and my nail made a serious indentation/scratch on the lens!!!
Summary: I had high hopes for this camera, but it let me down. I read a lot of reviews and thought, for $79 why not? The design is great...small, light, fits in the pocket nicely. Main issue is the photo quality was poor. No two shots came out alike, with differing colors and lighting. The intelligent automode does not work the greatest, as it gives mixed picture quality. I will be returning it as I have yet to take a good photo with it...
Summary: I got this camera when it was $79, and according to reviews this is a great compact point and shoot. But my dissapointment starts upon taking the first pictures. Like Many others have said, the lumix FP1 shoots very blurry and glary pictures. "Like shooting through a smoke-filled room.
Summary: Do you wonder why the FP1 price has dropped to $79 from about $109 in the past 3 weeks ? (What was it a couple of months ago, about $169 !! ) I think I know why. I tried two different ones, and both have terrible glare on the lens and the glare has the same effect as if you were in a smoke-filled room !! This is true indoors, worse of course outdoors, and even is very visible in its videos. Its pictures look as though they need a polarizing filter..
Summary: This won't be a extensive review of this camera, just a recap of my experience having it for a week. I bought this camera as it is small and has a non extending lens. I just wanted a durable point and shoot camera that would take pictures without too much fiddling. Picture quality thoroughly disappointed me, with grainy in low light as well as overexposures during the daytime. Lens is slow and the battery life indication is inconsistent(good battery life though).
Summary: A very compact and slim camera. However, it does have its limitations and noise in low light images can be very noticeable particularly if you leave it to its own devices using Intelligent Auto. Set in Normal Mode will allow some degree of control with ISO limits and white balance but on a bright day, the intelligent mode wins down with good image quality (sometimes). As far as I can ascertain, the lens is not made by Leica although the Leica logo appears on the body.
