Summary: Let me start by saying I own a Canon DSLR and have owned several Canon, Sony, and Kodak point and shoot cameras. This 16MP Panasonic Lumix produces low-quality photos on a par with a Kodak I had nearly 10 years ago. I suspect it's a build problem and something's just wrong with the unit I received. There are far too many good reviews for it to be the camera design alone. Nevertheless, there are also plenty of reviews commenting on bad photo quality.
Summary: In that this is my first point and shoot, I don't have antything to really compare this camera with. I have other cameras, however. I read the reviews on the Panasonic and felt that for the money it was worth a try.(16.1 MP!) I am accustomed to printing my pictures. Those printed using the Panasonic are far less than desirable for me; grainy. They look alright in the camera if that's the only record you are looking for. I guess for the money, I didn't make a big mistake.
Summary: I am quite disappointed by this point-and-shoot camera. I used an 'old' Canon A80 previously, but it broke, so i thought i'd upgrade to this Leica-lensed Panasonic. Haha! Not so. Pictures are SUPER grainy with this camera, unless you always use flash. Sure, one does need light when shooting indoors, but even in daylight, faces come out orange-blotchy and grainy!! No joke! Focus is not good either!!! A decent camera should be able to process daylight pics without flash.
Summary: I bought this camera, June 11 of this year. Basically, I had no issue with the camera until Christmas eve when the camera gave a message to turn the camera off. From that point, I had an O.I.S. error and the camera kept shutting down. I could take one picture before I had to shut it off again. I did manage to get all of the pictures taken but it took some extra effort. I called Panasonic and they told me to reset the camera, which did not solve the problem.
