Summary: I have purchased 2 of these cameras based on the fact that they had a WiFi remote capability I use these cameras daily for inspection work and the first one got "dark smudges" on the photo receptor. ALL of my photos have 3 "little gray clouds" that appear on the jpeg images. I'm, not sure how they got there other than maybe from shooting into the sun or into a mirror with the flash on. This is a problem!
Excerpt: Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ5 I have had this product for just about a week now, and having paid less than a hundred dollars for it at Staples Business Depot, I am very impressed with the amount of features this camera has for such a cheap price. Pictures are crisp and clear, and the video is very impressive; the quality is excellent and the sound is out of this world; clear, picking up the sound of birds singing and even subtle sounds can be heard.
Summary: great camera, the wifi was an important feature and it works awesome. love being able to snap shots from afar with my smartphone. im not that into specs but this thing shoots photos well enough for me and mine. would reccommend.
Summary: This camera is no longer made by Panasonic. The shutter would no longer open after about 35 days of ownership. Had to jump through hoops, but finally got this replaced under warranty with a newer model.
Summary: The 1800 number was of no help. I could successfully set up the app to use WiFi for the Samsung Galaxy (so I DO know how to correctly get this to work on a phone), but when using the same app for iPhone, it simply will not work - it gets "hung up" on the Login screen. When you call the 800 number about Lumix Link, the app that is supposed to upload photos via your phone, the techs have NO KNOWLEDGE of Lumix Link, even though Lumix Link is repeatedly referenced in the...
Summary: I have a not quite 2 yr old Lumix DMC-SZ5 with a Panasonic lens. I loved it UNTIL I developed spots on my photos, which apparently are from dust inside . Researching, I found Panasonic seems to have a problem with this but they will do nothing for me. I can have it cleaned here for $75-$100 but I think I'll just get a new camera. Maybe go back to Canon. If I get it cleaned they tell me I would need to wipe it every time I zoom in/out or it'll happen again. Ridiculous!
